Who's calling? Now you'll know! 📞 Our friends at Virgin Media O2 have launched their new feature Brand ID, a caller identification technology designed to provide O2 customers with greater confidence and certainty about incoming calls. Powered by voice security leader Hiya Inc., this technology verifies caller information, reducing unknown and potentially fraudulent calls. Research from Hiya shows that 46% of unidentified calls are ignored, and 92% of people suspect them to be scams. Brand ID, rolling out to millions of O2 pay-monthly and business customers, will help address this issue. Learn more about O2's commitment to customer safety: https://lnkd.in/e6uZmv8S

One possible market for the Cybercab (assuming it ever actually ships and does what it claims) would be for somebody to get one for themselves, have it drop them off at work, then spend the day doing cab rides for other folks to earn money before ferrying the owner back home again. Likewise, charge permitting, it could go back out in the evening and do more cab rides. Two big challenges I see though: 1. Keeping it clean. What do you do if somebody makes a mess in your Cybercab? How would you know? Who is cleaning it up? 2. Charging. It can apparently only charge on the so-far-vaporware charging pads. Presumably you'd have one at home, but if that's the only one it can access, your Cybercab could be out of commission at awkward times if it used all its battery running other folks around town.

Do your numeric locker locks auto-scramble? It’s a simple but impactful feature to ensure user codes remain confidential and are never accidentally left on the dials. Cleo is the first electro-mechanical lock — a battery-free combination lock managed with an electronic key. Users enter their self-selected code to secure their belongings, and the lock is operated; the dials auto-scramble to zero. There is no need to self-scramble the code — simplified security comes standard with Cleo. #Cleo #Digilock #SecuritySimplified

Unless you've been living under a rock the last few days, Crowd strike has become a household name overnight. The key thing I've understood from the whole scenario is, as essential as an AV solution is, having a robust backup strategy is equally important. When the proverbial hits the fan, being able to recover entire systems quickly could prevent very costly down time, and possible reputational damage. Final point - Dont just take backups, check them, test them and document the process. If you're not testing your backups, you're just winging it.

That is why a dispatcher is the safest option for securing access to critical sections! I do not know any way how it can reach a deadlock. For the synchronized block, we can reach it with two locks, and for mutex, even with one.
