Do you think you just fell out of a coconut tree? 🤔 You exist in the context of all in which you live, and what came before you…. 🥥 While you might be tired of the soundbite (I think I’ve watched almost every single TikTok remix in existence), it’s an evergreen lesson in comms: context is everything. Here’s an example. Last week, Needle client Amulet announced $6M in Series A financing, bringing its total funding to $11M+. Today, the team shared the appointment of 2 board members: Darcey Nett, Principal at HealthX Ventures, & Lisa Shapiro Strovink, Managing Partner at AllerFund. Without context: Why should I care? Doesn’t every VC-backed company have to appoint people to its board? With context: Turns out, the announcements are quite rare. 🥥🌴 Our teams researched VC funding & board representation stats in Wisconsin, where Amulet is based, to uncover the bigger picture (a serious thank you to everyone who pulled PitchBook data for us). We discovered that: 👉 Amulet is 1 of 14 active, WI-based, female-founded companies that have raised more than $1M in venture capital.  👉 Historically, only 21 female-founded companies in WI have raised more than $1M in venture capital. 👉 3 out of 5 of Amulet’s board members are now women, making it a rare female-majority board, particularly in WI, where women represent just one-quarter of board seats. Abigail Barnes & the entire Amulet team are shifting the paradigm—not only by raising capital & appointing women to their board, but also by spotlighting the context. This context should motivate us all to take a different path, take action, & work together to change these stats. Because come on. And you can leverage this increase in engagement to collect customer data for future segmentation… Here’s how I’d do it if I wrote for you: Goal: To create an “Active Lifestyle” customer persona/segment from your subscriber list. Step 1: Design a survey asking specific questions about your customers’ activity level, recovery methods, and overall active lifestyle. Ex: ✔ What are your primary health and wellness goals? ✔ How often do you participate in physical activities each week? ✔ Do you use cannabis products before, during, or after physical activities? ✔ What types of physical activities do you enjoy most? (e.g., running, yoga, weightlifting, etc.) ✔ Have you ever tried pain-relieving cannabis products for recovery or sports-related injuries? ✔ Which cannabis products do you prefer for your active lifestyle? (e.g., tinctures, edibles, topicals) ✔ Etc. Step 2: Incentivize participation with themed discounts: “Complete the survey to unlock your Gold Medal🥇20% Off discount!” Step 3: Integrate with email: Follow the same theme for your subject lines and CTA’s:  “Your Gold Medal is Waiting…”  “Bring Home the Gold: Take Our Quick Survey” “Take the Podium - Start Survey” Step 4: Analyze responses and segment: You can segment as much or as little as you want here. I would definitely segment based on 👉 Level of activity 👉 Product preferences 👉 Health and wellness goals 👉 Whether they’ve tried certain products in the past or not Step 5: Find relevant products to recommend for each segment: 🔹 Topicals, edibles, CBD for muscle soreness/pain relief. 🔹 CBN and indica strains for sleep and recovery. 🔹 𝛃-caryophyllene for enhanced focus. Cross-sell and upsell with similar/complimentary products. Super excited to start building out the leadership team from the top down at Lineage Provisions with Matt Hayes taking the reins as GM. Matt is everything you'd want to see in a leader: low ego, high EQ, professional, experienced, hungry, team player, and thoughtful to name a few. Lots of big things to come with Lineage, but most of all, excited to show that it's possible to do the combination what few brands are able to: 1. Make amazing, world class products that solve people's problems (currently: ultra clean, delicious, organ and meat sticks and all-in-one protein, many more to come) 2. Create impact we want to see in the supply chain (currently: supporting small family regenerative farms and creating a new standard for testing for purity and transparency) 3.
