The Be HEARD in the Workplace Act was reintroduced today by Senator Murray and Representative Pressley! This comprehensive legislation will combat workplace harassment and other forms of discrimination by strengthening current law and closing loopholes, including by: - Protecting all workers; - Increasing transparency and accountability; - Codifying into statute existing case law to clarify that sex discrimination at work includes harassment and other forms of discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. It will also eliminate the unjust federal sub-minimum wage for tipped workers ($2.13/hour), which makes service workers—who often rely on tips to make ends meet—more vulnerable to harassment. When I teach for diversity, equity, INCLUSION, and accessibility(DEIA), and company culture, this is my platform. In order to solve whole person and whole generational, and whole community issues, in a capitalistic society, we have to approach it as a whole generational problem. We must look at systemic issues that continue to plague Black, Brown, Other People of Color (BIPOC), and white people. If we do not look back to look forward, we will get nowhere! Please click on the video link for further understanding as Vice President Harris understand it! It is not a simple fix; it is a whole community and historical fix!

🌟 Breaking Gender Stereotypes: Always #LikeAGirl 🌟 In a world where gender norms and stereotypes persist, it’s time to challenge the status quo. Let’s celebrate an incredible initiative that empowers girls and women to break free from limiting expectations. 🚀 🌟 Always #LikeAGirl: A Journey of Empowerment 🌟 The Always #LikeAGirl campaign began in 2014, fueled by a mission to boost young girls’ confidence during puberty. Six iterations later, it has evolved into a powerful movement that transcends borders and generations. Here’s how it unfolded: 2014: Always #LikeAGirl The first step was acknowledging the impact of the phrase “like a girl” as an insult. We realized that unintentionally, we were part of the problem. But we also knew we could be part of the solution. Let’s redefine what it means to do something “like a girl” – with strength, resilience, and pride. 💪 2015: Unstoppable #LikeAGirl Armed with research showing that societal limitations weighed heavily on girls, we encouraged them to be unstoppable. Through powerful imagery, we shattered biases and proved that girls can be brave, strong, and smart. Let’s rewrite the narrative! 🌟 2016: #LikeAGirl: Girl Emojis Remember those girl emojis playing princesses or getting their nails done? We challenged these stereotypes head-on. The result? Forty-four new girl power emojis, now part of mobile keyboards worldwide. Representation matters – let’s celebrate diversity! 🌈 2016: Keep Playing #LikeAGirl Despite the benefits of sports, half of girls quit during puberty. So, we took center stage during the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. Over 30 Olympic athletes joined us, emphasizing that girls gain confidence through sports. Let’s keep playing, breaking barriers along the way! ⚽ 2017: Keep Going #LikeAGirl Fear of failure paralyzes 50% of girls during puberty. But we know that growth lies in perseverance. Through inspiring stories and a powerful film, we rallied society to encourage girls to keep going, even when the path gets tough. Let’s embrace resilience! 🌟 🌟 Join the Movement! 🌟 As professionals, parents, and advocates, let’s amplify the #LikeAGirl movement. Share this post, challenge stereotypes, and uplift the next generation. Together, we’ll create a world where everyone thrives, regardless of gender. 🌍 #LikeAGirl #Empowerment #GenderEquality #BreakingStereotypes https://lnkd.in/ePaann5N

Throwback Thursday: Reflecting on a Powerful Message. Last year, Black Mentorship Inc launched a transformative movement, urging everyone to #unite in the fight against systemic inequalities. Our impactful video, "Now is the Time," was a call to action for all to join forces and make a difference. Understanding and overcoming workplace inequalities requires intentionality, but first, you must recognize what unfair treatment looks like before you can disrupt it. Recognizing Inequalities: Workplace inequalities can manifest in various forms, including disparities in pay, promotions, and opportunities based on race, gender, age, or other characteristics. These inequalities are often rooted in systemic biases and can significantly hinder professional growth and satisfaction. Identifying Inequalities Pay Disparities: Unequal pay for the same job based on gender, race, or other factors. I never understood why you cannot share your salary information until I realized some people are paid lower for the same jobs. Promotional Bias: Underrepresentation of minorities in leadership positions. what does your leadership team look like? This question should be answered by everyone that wants fairness. Access to Opportunities: Limited access to training, mentoring, or challenging projects for certain groups. And assignments of non strategic projects to certain groups Cultural Exclusion: A workplace culture that marginalizes or excludes certain groups. Remember the phrase Culture fit? Subtle ways certain groups are excluded. Steps to Overcome Inequalities: 1. Self-Education: Understand the nature of workplace inequalities and how they manifest. 2. Seek Mentorship: Build a network of #mentors and peers who support diversity and inclusion to support your growth and well-being. 3. Document Experiences: Documentation is crucial to ending systemic inequalities. Keep records of any instances of inequality to build a case if and when needed. 4. Raise Awareness: Speak up about inequalities in a constructive manner and suggest solutions. Don't just complain, bring your suggestions to the table. 5. Pursue Continuous Learning: It is critical to take back power by enhancing your skills and knowledge to remain competitive and assert your value. This Thursday join your #voice in this critical journey to dismantle inequalities in the workplace. Watch the video "Now is the Time," educate yourself, and take a stand against systemic inequalities. Together, we can create a more equitable future for ALL people. Don't Complain, Disrupt! Are you working with technology teams? Better decision-making exists when you have diverse teams. This discussion is fantastic (It resonates beyond software development teams): 1. How can evidence change organizational behaviour and give measurable insights? 2. How to be an ally? 3. Tactics for working on global teams? 4. How can we better support people who identify as women? 5. How to get rid of 'contest culture'? #leadership #womenintech #digitaltransformation #culture #technology #dei #equity #transformation
