🌟 Progress in Inclusive Adult Education! 🌟 We had the pleasure of attending our Online Partner Meeting for the "Learning for All" project on 8th July, focusing on enhancing inclusive adult education across Europe. Here are some key highlights from our productive session: 🦉 WP2 – Our team has been hard at work developing a benchmarking tool designed to evaluate and enhance the inclusivity and diversity practices in adult education centres. The positive and constructive feedback report was presented at the meeting. We're now working on translations for inclusivity in German, Swedish, Spanish and Greek. 🦉 WP3 – The plan for the Community Outreach Toolkit is clear and well-structured. This toolkit aims to improve outreach efforts to engage socially disadvantaged adults. We agreed on conducting 5 case studies per partner, starting sessions by September. The toolkit will include practical strategies for outreach and marketing, making learning opportunities accessible to all. 🦉 WP5 – Our dissemination efforts are hitting targets! We're gearing up for the dissemination report due by the end of August and ensuring all photos and posts are well-documented. These efforts are crucial for sharing our project outcomes and engaging with a wider audience. 🦉 WP4 in the "Learning for All" project includes: 🏵 Our partner Momentum conducting a development workshop in Ireland to plan and scope activities, which will happen around November of this year. 🏵Developing the curricular structure for a Capacity Building online course. 🏵Producing course content, creating an online learning platform, pilot testing the course and platform. 🏵 Implementing improvements and maintaining the platform. These activities are designed to ensure effective training and implementation of inclusive practices in adult education, facilitated by Momentum and involving all partners. Next online meeting is set for 9th September. Let's keep up the great work! Why kindergarten teacher should be Culturally sensitive and enthusiastic about enriching young minds? A kindergarten teacher should be culturally sensitive and enthusiastic about enriching young minds for several reasons: 1)Building Inclusive Environments: Cultural sensitivity helps teachers create a welcoming, inclusive classroom where every child feels valued and understood, regardless of their background. This encourages acceptance and helps young learners develop respect for diverse cultures from an early age. Supporting Emotional Development: Children from different cultures may express emotions and experiences in unique ways. A culturally aware teacher can recognize these differences, ensuring each child’s emotional needs are met, fostering a positive sense of identity. 2)Enhancing Learning: Enthusiastic teachers who embrace cultural diversity provide richer educational experiences. By incorporating multicultural activities and perspectives, they stimulate curiosity and broaden students’ understanding of the world. 3)Role Modeling Respect and Empathy: By being culturally sensitive, teachers set an example for children, teaching them the importance of empathy, respect, and kindness toward others. This helps young minds develop critical social skills and emotional intelligence. 4)Promoting Equity in Education: Cultural sensitivity ensures that all students, regardless of their background, have equal opportunities to thrive. It helps prevent biases or misunderstandings that could hinder a child’s educational progress. In summary, a culturally sensitive and enthusiastic kindergarten teacher fosters an environment that nurtures curiosity, inclusivity, and respect, essential for developing well-rounded and compassionate individuals.

There’s been a lot of buzz recently around Title III funding & district use of funds for their ESL populations. This article 👇 does a really nice job of breaking down the “do’s & dont’s” for meeting the needs of this underserved group of students. 💡“The rule of thumb, Sugarman and others note, is that if it’s required in some capacity under local, state, or federal law, it’s not an allowable service under Title III.” 🪣“There are typically three buckets under which Title III spending fits.” 📘“One is on providing professional development for English-learner educators and others. Another is also enhancing instructional programs for English learners, such as after-school tutoring and supplemental textbooks. Yet another is a bucket for other effective strategies including parent, family, and community engagement, Boyle said.” So what do you do?! ⁉️”In the meantime, researchers such as Boyle suggest educators managing these funds ask themselves the following questions: What needs do we have? What can we use these funds for? And what kind of strategies are effective in addressing those needs? Those questions can guide educators to make decisions about how to use Title III effectively in relation to all the other funding they have available.” #newcomers #ell #esl #titlefunds #education #equityineducation #knowbetterdobetter #teachers-matter #scienceofreading #edweek #research https://lnkd.in/gyTG5jMs

Through engaging activities like this one, where children identify and discuss emotions, we create a safe and supportive environment for them to express how they feel. By using visual tools, our educators guide children in recognising emotions such as "happy," "angry," and "scared," allowing them to communicate more effectively and develop strong social-emotional skills. It's all about fostering emotional literacy and creating confident, self-aware young learners.

Last Thursday marked the end of my time in Gqerbha, South Africa, where I supported Ubuntu Pathways as a literacy coach. The principal, with whom I worked alongside, commended me on the value of maximizing time for the benefit of children. Now back in NYC, I am eager to bring my expertise to your organization. During my two months at Ubuntu Pathways, I maximized my time by: -Administering 200 running records (individual reading assessments) to every student to gather literacy data. -Managing and training staff in administering running records. -Creating and facilitating teacher professional development on creating thematic units that incorporate social studies and ELA. -Leading teachers in creating scopes and sequences and in lesson planning -Observing classroom teachers and giving them feedback on classroom best practices. -Teaching a model reading workshop in a Grade 5 class. -Planning, coordinating and leading a book club for the school’s advanced readers. -Administering and coordinating school-wide math assessments (NWEA). -Leading math data meetings with teachers -Coaching teachers in implementing literacy centers and differentiation school-wide. -Creating curriculum for and with two new teachers—Grade K (R) and in Grade 5. -Helping leaders develop school-wide systems for managing teachers and students. -Researching books for school orders that were culturally relevant and meaningful to students. -Teaching teachers how to align South African standards (ATPS) with Common Core standards. -Vetting curriculums and meeting with stakeholders holders to find ways of better supporting English Language Learners. -Supporting individual students’ SEL needs through relationship building and restorative interventions. -Analyzing all school data and presenting in ways that were clear to all involved. -Implementing a small group program for teacher assistants—accountability systems, lesson planning, data analysis, scheduling and training. My experience as a literacy coach at Ubuntu Pathways has equipped me with valuable skills in program management and education leadership. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to your organization in a permanent role. #OpenToWork #Education #NonProfit #ProgramManaging #DirectorOfEducation
