Great article to help me think more deeply about STEM education. The myth I've always had about STEM education is that the word science covers a much broader spectrum than technology, engineering, and math, such as the question posed in the article: are social and political sciences considered science? But if you look at it from the point of view of developing competence rather than imparting knowledge, teaching children the scientific way of thinking and the resilience needed behind the learning of science can be beneficial to their careers in any of these fields. Similarly, incorporating art into the system will incorporate the child's orientation towards more competencies such as creativity, etc. STEM education is not only the education of knowledge, it is also the education of competence and thinking method.
