Why would you care? Typically, people need to feel attached to the story, the impact, and the message to care. They need to feel the sorrow, struggle, need, and pain of those most impacted. Giving Tuesday and Dec 31st are the most giving days of the year and typically for 2 different reasons. One, Giving Tuesday, is based on the resonance of the message, mission, and impact the organization has on you, your personal values, your own giving, etc. The other is about your pocketbook being a bit too heavy and needing to get that end-of-year tax break. Sure, the charity may have resonance but you are a primary factor in the giving pull. To all NGOs, Volunteer Groups, and Trusts. We don't know who is giving, so why should we show who is receiving. As we are getting ready for Eid,let's talk about something important for our donation efforts. When we share about our work on social media, it's great to show how we're helping people. But we need to be careful about one thing, the privacy of the people we're helping. So, when you post about your donation events, please hide the faces of the people who are getting help. Even though they might not say anything, but seeing themselves on social media platforms could make them uncomfortable. Let's remember to keep things private and respectful. We can still make a big difference without showing who's getting help. #Anonymous_drive

I've seen a lot of emails today positioning #givingtuesday as the **reason** to give... a lot of messaging that essentially says "Today is Giving Tuesday, so please donate to us." And today of all days, the landscape is competitive. People are being solicited by all the orgs they've ever supported... how are you standing out? The best emails I've seen today barely mention Giving Tuesday. Instead, they: ❤️ Talk about their mission; 🤝 Remind you of the community to which you belong; 💡 Show you what you've already accomplished, together; 🚀 Inspire you to take action. It's probably too late to change your last email (or two) of the day, but add this to your debrief notes for tomorrow: compelling stories and a thoughtful case for support still matter. Make the effort. Earn their support.

It's the season to be generous... and there are many ways to share! Although the similarities may not be obvious, such a simple thing as coffee is a great example of what nonprofit work brings to communities. Coffee is warm, comforting, and provides energy for people to have a better day. Nonprofit work provides a similar feeling of comfort and love to those who need it. The holiday season can get busy and overwhelming for many, but taking a few minutes or hours to volunteer, helping others when you can, or even lending a friendly smile can do so much. One way to celebrate the giving season is paying it forward in places like coffee shops and drive-thrus. By paying for the coffee or meal of the person behind you, you’re paying kindness forward in the hopes that the person you help will help someone else, and so on.
