Our team members recently spent a day volunteering together at The Greater Boston Food Bank. Currently, 1 in 3 Massachusetts residents face hunger, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to help make a difference in our community. #EndHungerHere
Below are the slides presented in class covering the work my group and I have done after volunteering at the Community Corner. I hope you all will look into the Community Corner and visit them!
February wraps up, feeling like a year's end in just two months! How's your 2024 so far? Any lessons shaping your path ahead? This month brought valuable experiences:
1. Volunteering at a FairPrice outlet during CNY work highlighted the importance of every cent. What seems small to some is substantial to others.
2. Respect is earned. CNY volunteering witnessed customers handing food to our frontliners, showing that kindness matters more than material things.
3. At a community event, the majority assumed one choice was wisest, but a thoughtful minority's alternative proved best—a reminder to be mindful of choices.
March awaits with these insights. In the words of Winston Churchill, "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts." 🚀 #FebruaryReflections#LifeLessons#WisdomThursday#GrowthMindset
If you ever look at the tags on our social media posts and wonder, "Who are they?" we'll tell you now. They're our partners, and we couldn't do what we do without them.
There's a lot to running an organization like ours and while we greatly appreciate when people give us money, we also benefit from the guidance and steering that these groups give us. As a group barely a year old, we soak up all the tips and lessons that our partners can give us.
It's also a sign of how things should be in the nonprofit world. We need to help each other. There is competition for resources, yes, but there's also plenty of opportunity for collaboration and referrals. A volunteer who may be unsuited for one agency could thrive in a different one. For example, someone who signed up to help at an animal shelter may find out the hard way that pet dander is not their friend. But walking dogs for a group like Elderdog is right up their alley.
Our mission at Volunteer Peterborough is simple; we strive to match volunteers to the ideal organization, and make the recruitment process easier. Our partner agencies make that happen.
Stop by our Partners page and see the full group of people that help us do what we do.
And we love them for it.

Having a passion to help others can be incredibly fulfilling and impactful. Here are some ways you can channel this passion:

🌟 Today was a day filled with gratitude and collaboration at Farmhouse Rescue. We were honored to host a fantastic group of volunteers from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Orange Coast. Together, we rolled up our sleeves, dove into the work, and were reminded once again of the incredible power of community.
💪 Seeing everyone get thoroughly stuck in was a true testament to the spirit of giving back and making a difference. Their dedication and enthusiasm served as a reminder of how fortunate we are to have such amazing nonprofits rooting for us.
🤝 Collaborations like these highlight the immense good we can achieve when we come together. By pooling our resources, talents, and passions, we can create positive change that reverberates far beyond the confines of our individual organizations.
🌈 Let's continue to foster these partnerships, nurture our community bonds, and strive towards a brighter, more inclusive future for all. Together, there's no limit to what we can accomplish!

Today felt like the perfect time to jump back into LinkedIn. The last 10-12 months have been quite a journey both personally and professionally. This post isn't meant to relive the last year but to encourage everyone that when your life is turned upside down unexpectedly, it can lead to wonderful outcomes. I found through prayer, reflection, and unwavering support from friends and family, what was initially something extraordinarily difficult became a true blessing.
Some will notice I have a "gap" in my work history now. About 4 months. 4 months to jettison a lot of baggage, get my mind and body back to neutral (thank you Brendan Ferns for recommending Getting to Neutral by Trevor Moawad), and to dream again. 4 months to reconnect with my wife and start to make decisions that are focused on me and my family first, not what a job might dictate or require. Call it a gap or a sabbatical or whatever you'd like; I knew in order to be the best for my family and for wherever I chose to go professionally, I had to reset.
In October of 2023 I got to meet with some of the team at Grubb Ventures. I wasn't sure if I was ready to come off the sidelines yet. Was I mentally ready? Did I complete my "factory reset?" A few things were clear that were critical to me:
1. The leaders truly cared about the people there. It wasn't lip service or just some core value splattered on a wall.
2. They believed the company was ready to make smart, strategic changes in response to recent growth (I like leading through change believe or not).
3. Grubb cares about the community they live and work in.
I joined Grubb as its CFO in November (I know I'm late posting about it). And today we sorted and packed eggs at the Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC. We did it together. Just like we do each day at the office.
I'm so thankful to the team at Grubb for choosing me. I'm grateful to everyone who supported me this last year, especially my wife and family. And while I know God doesn't ever have to reveal His plan for me, I'm blessed that He continues to orient my steps.
Volunteering in our community is one of the many ways #GVgivesback. This week, the Grubb Ventures team spent a busy morning at the Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC helping sort and package 7,000lbs of locally sourced eggs to share with over 500,000 members of our underserved communities in Central and Eastern North Carolina.

According to AP News, there's a growing trend of corporate employees seeking fulfillment through workplace volunteering. Here at WARM NC, we're grateful for the dedication of volunteers who help us provide safety-related home repairs for low-income homeowners.
It's not just about fixing houses; it's about building a stronger, safer community together. Read more from this article: https://rb.gy/q423g5

Cleaning up loose trash is one of the best ways to pitch in for your community and the environment.
Volunteering as a means to help conserve and protect the environment has a lot of upsides. Of course, the first is that you’ll be taking care of our planet, and it badly needs a little love given the myriad ways in which we’ve become adept at destroying it. But beyond that, volunteering for a cause you care about is a great way to meet like-minded people, make friends, and pull yourself out of the blues that sometimes accompany caring a lot about something important – especially if you feel alone in your endeavors.
None of us like the sight of litter. Litter spoils the look of where we live but that’s not the only reason for picking up litter. There are a number of benefits from picking up litter that you may not have considered before.
Volunteer-led projects such as these are one of the quickest, simplest, and least expensive ways to inspire more community spirit and civic action. A visually appealing community increases property values, attracts businesses, and improves the neighborhood's image. Beauty is one of the three most influential factors in community attachment, which means loyalty, to your particular town or city. Some research even shows that a nice-looking neighborhood promotes good behavior.
Join us in keeping your community clean!
