Finding a new purpose after service Transitioning from military service to civilian employment is a unique journey, filled with both challenges and opportunities. Today I'm sharing another great piece of information from the LinkedIn 2023 Veteran Opportunity Report. Why? Well, it's our mission at EagleCorps to help Veterans secure meaningful careers. And today we're sharing helpful information for #talentacquisition leaders and #hiring leaders to help open up their #talentpipeline . In the report, there's a section that discusses how to "Change the narrative to bridge the gap". Points made here relate to translating how military experience relates to the traditional workforce. One point I found helpful related to skills first hiring: Put skills first. Veterans may not have as much experience in the civilian workforce as other candidates, but that doesn’t mean they’re not equally qualified. Look beyond the names of previous employers and focus on skills. If you’re unsure what skills are required for military roles, consider asking a Veteran peer to walk you through the candidate’s resume. Alternatively, give candidates a chance to demonstrate their skills in a real-world setting.
