This company lists their competitors on their website 🤯. I use a tool for captioning my videos. I didn’t see this before I pulled the trigger on the tool but noticed it the other day. They list their direct competitors right on their website. “Alternatives” Such a bold move! Do you think we will ever see something like this in B2B SaaS? More and more stakeholders are getting involved in software purchases. You just got your champion to acknowledge they have a problem and your solution can help. Now what? Unless it’s a transactional sale that’s just step 1. The next step is helping your champion sell your solution internally to get the rest of the stakeholders bought in. Then navigate a POC or maybe a lengthy procurement process. More on those pieces in another post. Point here is don’t get happy ears just because you and your champion are aligned (no pun intended). I’m currently in the process of evaluating vendors for a service we are considering pulling the trigger on. The old me - google search possible vendors - look at a bunch of websites - try to narrow things down based on info I see - try and schedule time with a couple vendors Current me ✅ - ping an LA based GTM community I’m a part of in the what’s app group - ping people I know through linkedin who I’ve chatted with and trust. - lay out our needs at a high level and ask for recommendations/ referrals to vendors who could potentially help. Within 24 hours of pinging my community I’ve received 6 solid recommendations and held 2 calls with 2 potential vendors. —— Point of this post: People are changing the way they buy. Invest in creating customer champions who will throw your company’s name in the ring when they see things pop up in different communities. Do this: - consistently post content - consistently engage with others content - consistently send DM’s to meet new people - consistently have meaningful conversations with connections via zoom or IRL. It’s not rocket science to get to 10k followers here. I can’t guarantee these results but this is what worked for ME. And the value I have gotten back from doing this stuff is CRAZY. - new friends - new mentors (way more senior and knowledgeable than me) - new tactics for sales and marketing - new ideas to make side income The list goes on. Want to get better at software sales? Do this: Go talk to software buyers. This advice comes from my own personal experience having conversations with dozens of software buyers the past few weeks while recording some cool content. (‘Cool’ is my own description of the content 😆) I asked them all what they find annoying in the sales process when buying software. I’m not ashamed to say I’ve done things people have mentioned. The ‘Why’ is a bigger conversation regarding sales compensation, training, how sellers get measured for success etc which isn’t the point of this post. The point is try to find a way to have real conversations with buyers, take notes, and adapt your own approach to find what works for YOU and YOUR icp. I could never be a ghostwriter. Not that there’s anything wrong with being a ghostwriter or using a ghostwriter to help with content. (More people do it than you think) I personally just don’t have the skill set to do it for others. (Not that anyone has asked me 😅) I usually write how I talk / think through things. The way I talk and think is unique to me, my life experiences, and my personality as is everyone’s. I truly don’t know how to do that for someone else or how to have someone do that for me. Software buying is f%#>*^ Sellers are pressured from leadership to get 30 ‘discovery’ questions answered before they can show anything. Buyers are fed up having to restate the same stuff on 3 separate calls with a single vender just to see the product and get pricing. Both sides are just trying to do their job and help solve business problems. I definitely don’t have all the solutions but man…this video series I’ve been doing the past month has been really eye opening. Funnel Friction is real and something needs to change. I’m not a fan of using AI for cold call role plays. Sorry not sorry. I do see value in using AI to role play live demos. The last thing you want to do is send a hot lead that probably costs thousands of marketing dollars to get to a new rep to run. Rarely am I blown away by a product but damn, Ajay Jain walked me through Yoodli today and that thing is sick! Within minutes he was able to create a simulation live demo for me at Tourial that was pretty spot on in terms of typical questions I get in my demos. You can even share your screen as you do in demos and the AI buyer will ask relevant questions on what’s displayed. 🤯 Def check them out 💪🏽 #sales #marketing #community PS - this not a sponsored post.
