Growth > exponential growth > extreme growth In the startup world, growth is the name of the game. The faster, the better. Hosting a community though, isn’t primarily about increasing the numbers. It’s about relevance. Same for organizing events. As we’re preparing for the next edition for SaaS Summit Benelux, our starting point is very simple: 👉 Relevance over growth. Simply attracting as many people as possible doesn’t guarantee impact. What makes a difference is curating a relevant audience. Having a strict door policy like this is scary. Every week, I have a few hard conversations with people who like to attend but do not qualify. Those calls suck, but I believe it’s our responsibility to do what we can to make this event worthwile. Attracting as many people as humanly possible is most probably the most counter productive part of it all - spot on! In building community all focus needs to be on quality, impact, peer group and give to get. Approaching community from an "retention" angle therefore is the most sustainable way to growth.
