The share of the American workforce working from home more than tripled from 2019 to 2021, as a result of COVID-19. In 2019, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, 5.7% of working Americans were working from home. But that percentage grew to 17.9% in just two years, reflecting an increase of almost 19 million workers. (US News and US Census). In a recent article that appeared in Forbes Magazine, it is estimated that in the “new normal”, 20% to 30% of all employees are currently working from home or some type of hybrid work schedule with variations across industries and jobs. COVID-19 requirements forever changed the Workplace landscape as business implemented work from home to survive. These work arrangements have remained in place although the COVID-19 Pandemic has been contained. The legacy left by COVID-19 has left many businesses atruggling with the decision of whether or not to bring employees back to work full-time in the office and end remote/hybrid work? Maybe you are considering implementing a hybrid work schedule and end 100% remote schedules? The findings of a survey conducted in July of 2023 may provide you with data to assist you and better inform your decision making process. The survey, found that 77% percent of full-time working women with children under 18 support a hybrid work schedule, and 74% of working women with children under 18 support working from home.
