Hope you all are keeping cool! As we just had the worlds hottest average daily temperature of the last 84 years of recorded data (https://lnkd.in/eyuWWVFp). I thought it would be timely to share this article I wrote 15+ years ago that discusses how slight changes in temperature settings can save lots of energy and big money. We all know the planet is getting hotter, yet it takes more energy to stay cooler. Even though modern AC systems have become more efficient, with constantly increasing global temperatures, it's now ever more important to have reliable and well functioning systems. A room at 72° with 70% humidity will feel warmer than a room set at 78° with 50% humidity. Therefore, a higher awareness of both temperature and humidity settings and levels is critical. Our comfort, health, financial and physical safety are at stake. At White Bay Villas, Jostvandyke.com - although the island breezes from the trade winds help keep us happy most times, we still demonstrate a very high awareness about these issues. Thanks, John. So glad that you are reminding us of the simple things that contribute to efforts to combat climate risk. Starting small and building on initial successes will move the needle over the long term. It also helps to avoid being intimidated (and frozen in place like a deer in the headlights) by what appears to be an unsolvable situation. Not everyone has an in-house sustainability champion, so we need to be sure the messaging and directions are easy to follow and implement.

you have long been among the visionaries - sadly, facts fall on way to many deaf ears.
