CEO & Managing Partner at Curtis Strategy, Nonprofit Strategy Consulting Firm, We Lead Strategic Planning, Mergers & Affiliations, and Board Governance
It is very common for new nonprofit CEOs to conduct strategic planning for their organizations within 1-2 years of becoming CEO. This is an excellent move as it allows the new CEO to build relationships, co-create strategy, and ensure the board of directors, employees, and external stakeholders are aligned in what needs to happen in the years ahead. The best way to shape culture, improve teamwork, and foster united leadership is to chase worthy goals and outcomes for the organization. #strategicplanning #strategicplan #nonprofits #nonprofitleadership #ceostrategy #executivedirectors

In the absence of clear goals, step up. Set your own and share them with your team. Have you been here? You're in a new role and... Nobody seems to know what your goals should be or whether you should even have metrics!!! This happens often in engagement, donor relations, and even annual giving roles. I’d always rather ask for forgiveness for being proactive than permission and sit around waiting for something to happen. #fundraising #leadership
