What a great start to the Saint Patrick’s Day weekend! While Jones Robb embraces having a remote workforce and the work-life balance it achieves, it is also wonderful when team members can meet face-to-face. And that is just what Ashley Nicholls and Erin Kaprelian did this morning— representing some of the firm’s Midwest contingent and enjoying a cup of FIVE WATT COFFEE in Minnesota! Happy Friday and Saint Patrick’s Day weekend!”

Perennial. Extroverted introvert. Growth focused, passionate about my interests, always eager to expand my horizons. Curious, creative, confident and collaborative.
In preparation for our seasonal kick off meeting, our fantastic field team had a bit of fun dressing up in the season’s start colours and outfits. Our team means a lot to me, as they are the support system that everyone needs at work. Every week we meet up face to face to collaborate, exchange ideas, and share plans for the upcoming week. This approach not only fosters a productive work environment but also strengthens the team’s cohesion and effectiveness. We always follow up on what we have agreed to accomplish during the previous’ week meeting and we measure the successes achieved. When things don’t go as we planned, we are open and honest about our challenges, knowing that transparency is the bedrock of a great team. It takes a lot of effort and consistency to build a highly functional team, but the reward is worth the wait, as it creates a positive and rewarding experience for everyone involved. The dress up activity was a great way to reinforce our ongoing commitment to working together and start the season on a positive note. #collaboration #team #success #winning #newbeginning

Helping wicked smart leaders elevate their leadership results while reducing stress and embracing their own unique strengths to gain meaningful success.
It’s so easy to get caught up in keeping strict professional boundaries that we can sometimes forget that getting to know your team away from their desk can really help them feel connected to both each other and the team’s mission. You have a hard working team! But they don’t seem to know each other very well. As a leader, it’s up to you to create opportunities for your team to experience something new together or facilitate ways for them to get to know each other better. When you have a team that knows and supports each other, you have a team that can thrive in even the toughest challenges. There’s a picture that still sits on the shelf in an office showcase… a raft full of people in white rapids. That rafting trip was the first one the office went on and they had to not only conquer the fear of being in the raft, but had to also listen to a guide instruct them while making sure no one was left in the water or fell overboard. The trip started with lots of laughter, both nervous and excited, and was soon replaced with keen concentration as the guide instructed them on how to remain safe as they faced higher-than-normal rapids. Those who were more nervous or scared had to rely on those ready to be brave and act should the raft turn over. The relief as they successfully navigated the rapids and arrived at their destination was shared via high fives and hugs. The picture was proof they did something scary together and it was referenced anytime things got tough on the next project. This type of bonding lives on past the event. Build these moments for your team! #LeadershipChallenge #TheLeadershipChallenge #Bonds #Experiences #SharedExperience #TeamBuilding

Perspective from the 18 Overlook Some moments in life take you by surprise. This week, our team set out for the Phoenix Open, seeking a day of bonding, good food, and a hint of golf. Initially, I was a tad disappointed that not everyone could make it, and the weather wasn't exactly on our side. But I realized that those two perceived downsides helped to facilitate a great afternoon. With a smaller team presence, I found more opportunities to connect with each member on a personal level beyond the office walls. The rain, instead of dampening spirits, slowed down the golf pace, shifting the focus from the 18th-hole action to laughter, genuine connections, and a refreshing break from the routine. It dawned on me — the significance of building a team you genuinely enjoy and acknowledging their interests beyond work. Taking moments outside the office to understand your team fosters unity and reinforces their commitment to the company's vision. Here's to the reminder that a little rain can't dampen the bonds we build, both professionally and personally. 🌦️ #TeamBuilding #PerspectiveFromThe18 #WorkLifeHarmony #RealExecutiveLife #WorkAndGrow #DailyLife #WorkLifeBalance

This week marks six months since I stepped out of Hospitality and into retail. Whilst there are certain elements I miss, the work-life balance I’ve found with Waitrose & Partners is vastly improved. 37.5 hour working week | Ability to compress hours into 4 days | Alternate Saturdays | 1 in 4 Sundays | No expectation to work EVERY Bank Holiday | Comparable Salary It has certainly been a lot to learn, (and still learning all the time) and at times challenging; however a decade in Hospitality, certainly helps with that(!) If COVID has taught us anything, it’s that the Work-Life balance we all strive for, has certainly been reweighted; and the Hospitality industry, which has seen millions of workers leave, could certainly rebuild some loyalty if they took heed of some of the above. Imagine this: You’re walking into your office on Monday morning, your eyes shine as you walk past your colleagues, everyone’s smiling, and you actually feel (dare we say it?) excited to start work. Sound too good to be true? It’s not. Creating a positive work environment is a crucial ingredient to building a company that stands the test of time. Sure, a ping-pong table or a coffee machine can add to the atmosphere, but real positivity comes from valuing the people you work with. - Listen before you lead - Celebrate wins - Help without judgement - Foster a culture of learning - Encourage fun and laughter - Be transparent Making people feel valued and appreciated goes a long way. It’s the secret to creating a thriving company culture and a happy workplace. Time to make it happen!
