🌟 Just wrapped up my first #UN conference experience, and what a journey it was! 🚀 From the very start to the end, I was involved in the #INFF High Level Side Event at the FfD Forum in New York, giving support from the UK. We were part of multiple events and published our INFF flagship report: Making finance work for people and planet. Needless to say, every day since the start of the preparations brought new sets of challenges. Priorities shifted constantly, and all tasks seemed urgent at first. But later, I learned to navigate and took one step at a time. From managing social media to designing the cards, tweaking narratives, supporting the report publication, monitoring, and a thousand other things, it was a whirlwind! Key takeaways: ✅ Teamwork is the ultimate winning skill to have (It's a marathon, not a sprint)🦸♂️🦸♀️ ✅ Be always ready to change, learn and make improvements (I lost count of the edits I made) 📚💡 ✅ Confidence is key - speak up when something doesn't feel right.🗣️💪 ✅ Don't hesitate to seek help when needed.🤝🆘 ✅ Attention to detail is critical (double-check if needed)🎯🔍 Finally, witnessing our team's collective effort transform into a successful event was incredibly fulfilling. 🎉 Not every day, there will be a big challenge at your doorstep and even if it scares you, I think it is worth giving a try. Meet the crew!                                                      Nathan “Blondie” Rachel: So, your nickname is Blondie? How did you get that nickname? Nate: I had just bleached my hair and on my first day out here, and Bobby told somebody to take that blonde boy to go do something. Blondie was just easier and shorter, so it stuck.    Rachel: How old were you when you got into this field of work? Nate: 19. Rachel: How are you now? Nate: Almost 21. Rachel: Where did you come from? Nate: West Virginia. Rachel: How do you like Virginia? Nate: It’s a lot better, a lot more work, a lot more money. Rachel: Who got you into this field? Nate: My cousin, he thought it would be good for me to get into.  Rachel: What did you use to do in the past for work? Nate: Really never did much but I did work at Hardy's for like two weeks lol that’s about it really. Rachel: What was it like at first getting into this industry? Nate: It was a little awkward at first, but after awhile after you adjust. It’s pretty good. Rachel: What’s your favorite thing to do out in the field? Nate: Probably cutting with a torch and demolition. Rachel: It’s always fun to demo stuff and get paid for huh lol. Nate: Yeah. Rachel: What’s one of the coolest things you’ve learned out here? Nate: I enjoy operating the forklift, and the crane work. Rachel: What are some of your goals as being an Ironworker? Nate: To become a journeyman and travel some. Learn a lot more. I'd like to learn how to weld in all positions and get my certs. Rachel: Are you thinking about going into the apprenticeship program? Nate: Yeah, I am. Rachel: What is one of the places you would love to travel and work? Nate: California. Rachel: Why California? Nate: There is just something about California and me, and I don’t know what it is. I’m just drawn to it. Rachel: What’s it like being one of the youngest out here? Nate: It definitely has its pros and cons. Rachel: Tell me about some of them. Nate: I’m the youngest so everyone kind of takes me under their wing, also cause I’m the youngest they are a little harder on me, just to get it through my head, I guess. They know I’m young and bullheaded lol. Rachel: So, tell me what it is like to work at the coal pier? Nate: Dirty! its very dirty but its very laid back and it's not as bad as people may think. Overall, it’s not a bad gig. Good hours 44 a week, more than what most people get, sometimes even more than that. Rachel: So, tell me a little bit about yourself? Nate: I like to play video games, sleep, and I like to eat lol. Rachel: What’s your favorite type of food? Nate: Mm that’s a hard one … I’d have to say homemade spaghetti. Rachel: Well Nate thank you for sitting down with me and letting us get to know you a little bit. Nate: It was no problem.

I want to be a leader of communities and support positive change. ⚽️Tell us about a hobby of yours when you are not working! A hobby I really enjoy is sports from watching them to playing them. My favorites are soccer, basketball, and football.

Hey connections! I'm excited to share that I have just completed another fantastic virtual experience with Red Bull, this time focusing on their On-Premise Sales program on Forage - June 2024. In this simulation, I: * Completed a job simulation focused on On-Premise Sales activities at Red Bull. * Used Excel to visualize which on-premise clients are performing best and worst. * Communicated observations to Red Bull team members about why certain clients are performing better than others. * Utilized active listening and social proof to overcome a client’s objections, resulting in them more prominently featuring Red Bull in their bar. This experience has been incredibly enriching, and I'm thankful for the chance to learn from such a dynamic company and look forward to more opportunities to work with them in the future. Each step in this journey has brought me closer to understanding the intricacies of their operations and solidifying my passion for the brand. About nine months ago, I met Christopher Banks (he goes by CJ). He had a vision to bring Salesforce education and employment opportunities to underserved communities in western New York, and he started KORP Foundation INC. to be the conduit to make this happen. Red Argyle has a history of hiring people from "non-traditional" backgrounds, including a cellist, actor, philosophy PhD, and security guard, to name a few. Anyone with the desire to learn and work hard can be successful in the Salesforce ecosystem. Also, It's amazing to see how people draw from their previous life experiences and apply it to their work as a Salesforce professional - some things just can't be taught. We've always had the desire to create a program to scale up the education and employment of people from all those diverse backgrounds. So, it was serendipitous to connect with CJ, who was already building it as KORP Foundation's PATHS program! Red Argyle is proud to be the PATHS program's first employer partner. We are currently supporting PATHS' first cohort by teaching class once a week. The students study in Trailhead and saasguru during the week in pursuit of their Salesforce Associate and Administrator certifications (every student has earned their Associate cert). They then come to "Lab" on Thursday nights to build a Salesforce app together. They've chosen to build a Fantasy Sports League app. It's challenging and eye-opening for the students to get to apply their studies and start to "think like Salesforce". It's also a delight for me to guide these students toward their own decisions in their architecture and configuration decisions. Best of all, it's as real as Salesforce work can get - we're training students not only how to build on the platform, but how to gather requirements, take ownership of workstreams, be adaptable in the face of uncertainty, and communicate as a team. When this first cohort concludes in May, Red Argyle will hire four PATHS graduates for year-long apprenticeships. They will join our project teams and do real work side-by-side with other Argylers with their support and mentorship. Is it a little risky? Sure. But employers can't just support programs like PATHS with donations and well-wishes. We need to support the intended outcome: bring Salesforce employment opportunities to underserved communities. An apprenticeship shouldn’t just be about tattooing; it’s about understanding methodologies and practical applications. A mentor’s aim should be to instill deeper understanding of tattooing past the physical act, focusing on critical aspects like consultation, client management, and time management and marketing skills. The goal is to equip apprentices with a foundational understanding for running a successful tattoo business.
