Your calling isn’t necessarily one thing. Sometimes, we get so caught up in what we're doing that we assume it's our life's calling. Or, maybe, we assume that our life's calling just can't be answered anymore. But what if what we're doing is just one piece of the puzzle? Take an artist who paints. They’re talented, sure. And they love the work. But what if their true calling lies elsewhere? Maybe it’s not painting at all, but something that taps into the same creative spark. Maybe it's film, design, writing, or something else entirely. That's another part of the puzzle. One that might be unexpected or even scary. But, it's still related. (And, in hindsight, makes for a way more interesting story). If you're feeling stuck, take a closer look at the skills you already have. "Creativity requires the courage to let go of certainties," (Erich Fronmm). For me that means getting into a certain headspace. One way I do that, especially later in the day (because I'm naturally a morning person) is to take afternoon "creativity breaks." These are one of the best ways to recharge and ready myself for creative and deep thought work. This sometimes takes the form of working on a puzzle, doing some coloring or playing a few rounds of Words with Friends. Today, I changed things up and it was a great reminder of how important these opportunities are to fuel your creativity. Allison Wonders, an amazing and talented speaking coach hosted a really fun and engaging speaking practice workshop today at noon! With the number of people on the call, everyone got to run through the fun and "play focused" speaking exercises and receive valuable feedback. What strategies do you use during your day or week to refuel and ready yourself for creative or thought work?

Have you ever felt uncomfortable during a conversation? You know, when you have to ask, "Do you want to take it?" or "Which option is best for you?" suddenly, there's resistance. When emotions rise, intelligence often takes a back seat. This is why practice is crucial, and it needs to happen in a safe environment where mistakes are okay.
