At Novo Modo Machining, there are very few things that are “Novo Modo” that we consider secret. For the most part, less anything that specifically has to do with our customers, we are an open book. Yeah, we believe we have a secret sauce, and anyone willing to jump on a call, I will share that with you. If by me sharing it with you, makes you even more of a competitive competitor, bring it on! Why, because it will make industry better, it will require me to be better, and maybe, just maybe, it will create an ally for growth, and instead of competitors, we become the competition together! Also, you may challenge my idea in a way that has not been challenged yet, thus opening my eyes as to the next spice I need to add to the “secret sauce”. Now to answer a couple questions that seem to come up a lot! What is Novo Modo? It is Latin for "NEW WAY" Do you have investors? No, we do not, I am sole cook, bottle washer, and investor of this endeavor. I worked 2 jobs from 2005 till 2020. One job was to invest in real-estate and the market and the other was to pay to live. In 2021, I sold all but 2 of my properties. I then took a chunk of that money an invested it into Novo Modo. I took another chunk and I set it aside to pay my personal life expenses for 2 years. Did you launch with customers? No, we launched this business with no customers and honestly expected to struggle for the first 6-months to 1-year. I launched Novo Modo, with no customers, with machines I have never run, with controls I have never operated, with software for the CNC and CMM I have never used, and with CMM’s I have never even heard of! Do you actually machine parts, or is this more of advertising? Yeah, we actually machine parts, every day. We are finishing up 3 jobs right now. 2 of which are 675 pieces and one that is 500 pieces. They are incredibly tight tolerance 5-Axis parts. Was it scary? Fuck yeah it was, but that was the thrill of it. Step outside comfort and you will be met by growth! Is it stressful? No, but I am not one to stress. I am not afraid of failure, becoming homeless, or loosing everything. Stress will not make things better, it will only blind you from opportunity. Do you get free things for all the social media stuff you are doing? I do the social media stuff I do, because 1, I am paying it back, and 2, I love to tell a story. Yeah, I have been given some things for free, but a vast majority of what I have gotten is support and maybe a little off the top. Yeah, I have asked for a commitment from everyone I work with, but never once have I asked for free things or for anything un-reasonable. When you will potentially spend in the hundreds of thousands of dollars with a brand, you have a right to negotiate both on the relationship and on the price. Is it really a secret if you will tell anyone who asks? No, but people still think there are secrets, and that is fun!
