This was my Thursday evening with Denise Huang, working on our studio models. Exploring the intricacies of architecture has been a captivating journey for me. The process of model making, with its meticulous attention to measurements, material properties, clean edges, material flexibility, and envisioning unseen structures in my mind, allows me to tap into a unique cognitive realm. It's fascinating how this discipline challenges me to think beyond the visible, making something out of nothing. How does your experience with model-making contribute to your career in architecture?

A recent chance encounter led to our next in:SITE episode. James Cheung and I were sat together at an industry awards do a few weeks ago and got talking about the work of James and his Team at Mamou-Mani ltd. and Fab.Pub . James is one of the Directors of this directional design practice that takes patterns from nature, converts them into algorithims and then uses 3D digital printers and sustainable materials to create products, installations and buildings - their work is off the charts!!! In our chat we will talk about James' professional journey, from traditional architect working with some of the biggest and best practices and design consultancies to Mamou-Mani, a true disruptor in the design world. We will look at the potential of digital design and fabrication and what could be achieved going forward as technology advances at pace. Seeing is believing!!! Over the next week or so, we will post some examples of Mamou-Mani's work, it is mind blowing! The work of James and his team is definitely "deliberately different!" #mamoumani #parametricdesign #buildspace #insite #deliberatelydifferent
Episode 3 of in:SITE is coming very soon! 🎙️ We're excited to have James Cheung, Partner and Commercial Director at Mamou-Mani ltd. and Fab.Pub join us as our special guest! 🌟 This episode explores the cutting edge of parametric design and the transformative world of digital fabrication. Join us as our host, Dominic Coyne, Founding Director at Build Space, dives deep with James into: 🛠 James’ architectural journey 🖥 The shift to parametric design 🌱 Innovative materials and sustainable practices 🎓 Attracting new talent to the industry Don't miss out on these exciting insights and conversations about the future of architecture and design! ______________ Sign up for the in:SITE Community to get notified when the episode goes live: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dHfN75xC #parametricdesign #architecture #inSITE #buildspace

"Neurodivergent people are our 'canaries in the coal mine'... their sensitivity helps us to design better environments for all minds." It was a pleasure to host Emma Morse at Cox Architecture Research talks today to chat about neuro-inclusive design. We learned that #choice, #control and #codesign are key considerations for designers. And my favourite part.... #environmentalpsychology theories such as Gibson's #affordances, Hall's #proxemics and Appleton's #prospectandrefuge provide great guidance for neuro-inclusive design. #qut #design #neurodivergence #neurodiversity #thrivingbydesign #designresearch #coxarchitecture

Modern architecture/engineering is amazing. I stumbled over this video on YouTube. I am amazed at the engineering of modern stadiums. "Strong vibrations caused by moving people mainly occur in structures with low rigidity and mass. Stadiums are an example of this type of structure. High dynamic loads occur, caused by jumping fans cheering their teams." )https://lnkd.in/gAiQ26dA) Seeing is believing. #engineering #architecture #soccer #businesssolutions
