𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁: 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝟭
A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of speaking with Faisal BinDail to start of our video series on ‘𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘪𝘥𝘥𝘭𝘦 𝘌𝘢𝘴𝘵'. Faisal has been working in the industry in the region since the late 90s and so is better placed than most to offer advice!
A few key insights that I took from the call...
📈 𝙂𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙩𝙝 & 𝙋𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙡: Healthcare in the GCC is a growing and promising market with rapid development attracting investments and fostering innovation.
🇸🇦 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙘 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚: The region's strategic value is increasing, with many global healthcare companies setting up regional headquarters, particularly in Riyadh.
👩💻 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝘼𝙙𝙫𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨: Integration of digital health solutions, telemedicine, and AI to improve patient care and efficiency. The collaboration between Microsoft and M42 Health is a great recent example of this!
🏥 𝙄𝙣𝙛𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩: Significant investments in new hospitals, clinics, and specialised care centers are in the works!
👨⚖️ 𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙨: Reforms might be coming, aimed at improving healthcare standards and accessibility, attracting foreign investments and partnerships.
🌍 𝙄𝙣𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣: Enhanced collaboration between local and international healthcare providers to bring in expertise and innovation.
Focus on Sustainability: Emphasis on creating effective and sustainable healthcare systems considering environmental and economic aspects.
From my perspective… Faisal is reiterating what we have been sharing over the last few months… the healthcare sector in the Middle East, particularly in Saudi Arabia, is well positioned for a strong future!

Well, Faisal, thank you very much for
obviously agreeing to speak with me today. As you know, I'm Josh Bowerman
the managing director and founder at JBAndrews. I also recruits in the health care
and life sciences space. And we as a business do that recruitment
from the west coast of the USA, San Diego to Shanghai
in China and everywhere in between. There's a particular
focus on the Middle East for us as we have an office in the U.K.,
but we also have an office in Dubai. We're seeing some great activity
in this region at the moment. And we will talk a little bit about
the specifics of it during this call. But we are we're running a video series
here on LinkedIn to learn a little bit
about the future of healthcare in the GCC. And we're looking to experts like yourself
who have been in the industry for a long time in this region to answer
some very specific questions for us. So I'll go on to those questions
in a moment, but it would be great if you could first just introduce yourself
or our audience. Tell us a little bit about your background, what you do
and your presence in this region. Thank you, Josh, for the call and it's always a pleasure to meet you. My name is Faisal Bin Dail. I'm the general manager for Baxter company limited in Saudi Arabia. I'm leading Baxter Company. Limited or BCL we use as an abbreviation for the name of our company. For the past four years.
I have more than 20 years experience in pharmaceutical medical device industry in Saudi Arabia, mainly. Excellent. Okay. And so what I said this this video idea with you, you actually asked to be asked
one specific question on the future of healthcare in the GCC. And that question is,
what is the most exciting country to consider for the future of healthcare
in the GCC? In your opinion? Well, I think the region is interesting because it's growing
and a promising region, but in specific, I would say Saudi
Arabia is the most exciting with a lot of,
you know, changes and the growth as well. And right now, for example, Riyadh City has a population of around seven or 8 million people,
but it is expected or there is a forecast that it will reach
like 20 million population over the coming decade. And this is mainly because
of the megaprojects that is. And they're going into different stages of constructions
by the government. There are projects, real estate projects, building a new downtown for Riyadh, attracting the global companies
to have their own regional headquarters in Riyadh. There are many initiatives
that will work towards increasing the population
of Riyadh city and definitely this is also going
to impact the whole country because also there are many development
and different parts of Saudi Arabia. These are all projects and initiatives as again
to boost the economy of Saudi Arabia. It touches different industries. Health care is one of these industries. One of the sectors that is going to have an impact and positive impact on that from an economic point of view. There is also the entertainment projects that is increasing the traffic into Saudi
Arabia. There is also the Hajj,
and Umrah that is now opened for the holy people to come and visit Mecca and Medina. So we have seen that there is an increase in the visits and people
coming back and forth to Saudi Arabia.
The healthcare industry is under going significant global changes, and Saudi Arabia's healthcare sector is keeping pace with this transformation. Thank you Josh & Faisal BinDail for this insightful video..
Great kickoff to the video series Josh! Thanks for sharing your conversation with Faisal & his insights on GCC healthcare growth. Looking forward to your future sessions!

The HIMSS Executive Summit in Dubai was a confluence of ideas and innovation, showcasing how #NordicDigitalPlatforms can drive transformation in healthcare.
Reflecting on a standout moment from the HIMSS Executive Summit where Cris Ross keynote offered a thought-provoking perspective on healthcare interoperability. His insights challenged the conventional wisdom that interoperability alone equates to improved healthcare outcomes.
Cris’s discussion brilliantly unravelled the complex relationship between patient service continuity and interoperability, sparking a crucial debate on the quality of care. He also introduced us to alternative technologies like GenAI, suggesting that true innovation in healthcare goes beyond mere data exchange.
Such stimulating conversations underscore the importance of questioning the status quo and embracing diverse technologies to truly enhance patient-centric care.
A heartfelt thank you to HIMSS for orchestrating such an insightful gathering. It was invigorating to network with healthcare executives from the UAE and GCC region, fostering dialogues that push the envelope in #HealthcareIT.
