Key Highlights: EIC Pathfinder: €262 million allocated for multi-disciplinary research teams to undertake visionary research with the potential to lead to technology breakthroughs. Grants up to €4 million. -EIC Transition: €98 million to turn research results into innovation opportunities, following up on results generated by EIC Pathfinder projects and others. Grants up to €2.5 million. -EIC Accelerator: €634 million for start-ups and SMEs to develop and scale up innovations with the potential to create new markets or disrupt existing ones. Grants below €2.5 million, investments from €0.5 to €10 million. -STEP Scale Up: €300 million to provide additional equity funding to promising companies driving innovation in critical areas, with investments ranging from €10 to €30 million. 🚀 Big News for European Deep Tech!🚀 The European Innovation Council (EIC) announced a major boost to European deep tech innovation for 2025 with funding opportunities worth over €1.4 billion for strategic technologies and scaling up companies! 🌍💡 Here’s what’s new in the EIC Work Programme 2025: ✅ Increased Funding: An additional €200 million over last year, focusing on high-potential start-ups and groundbreaking research. ✅ Launch of EIC STEP Scale-Up Scheme: With a dedicated €300 million for 2025 (aiming for €900 million by 2027), this scheme targets deep tech scale-ups in strategic sectors like digital, clean tech, and biotech. Together with the members of EAIC - European Association of Innovation Consultants, we have drafted a position on the future of the EIC Accelerator. The detailed analysis of the November 2023 results provides crucial insights and recommendations to shape future EIC Accelerator work programmes. Key highlights: ☑ The success rate for EIC Accelerator interviews dropped to 17% in November 2023, with an overall success rate of 4% for full applications. ☑ A significant 86.8% of funding in the last cut-off of 2023 was allocated to blended financing candidates. ☑ Our recommendations include refocusing on grant-only cases and limiting equity requests to ensure a fairer and more efficient allocation of funds. We believe these changes are essential to support high-potential, less mature companies, crucial for the growth of Europe's deep-tech ecosystem.
