You are immediately disqualified if you can’t answer three simple questions: What do we do? How do we do it? And what position are you applying for? It is utterly shocking how many people cannot answer these three basic questions during an interview, especially since there is this new invention called the Internet! There is no excuse to show up thoroughly unprepared. Do not think you can shoot from the hip and improvise. We can tell right away. Let’s break it down, because this is an opportunity to shine: 1. What we do and how we do it are two separate questions. Most people answer the “what” with “how”. 2. Know what the product or service does. What problem does it solve? What is the value it provides? 3. The “how” is the way it solves the problem or the way it achieves value. 4. Make sure you understand the responsibilities of the position and how it contributes to the bottom line. Then answer the question behind the question. Why are you the right person for the job? Take the liberty to reinforce why you are the right person and what unique value you will bring to the role and the company. If you're nervous about not knowing how to answer an interview question - there's a secret. Know yourself and your career inside and out. That's all. The more you know about what you've done and your impact, the easier it will be to answer any question they throw at you. The formula is easy. Start with the punchline (accomplishment), then circle back to the challenge, your actions, and finish again with the punchline. Be confident and, above all, be YOU.

Have you ever found yourself sweating bullets before an interview? Yeah, me too. So, let's tackle those interview nerves head-on. 1. Excitement Over Fear: Ever noticed how athletes say they're excited, not scared, before a big event? That's the trick. Your body doesn't really know the difference between nerves and excitement, so let's choose excitement. 2. Homework Pays Off: Ever been caught off-guard by a question about the company you're interviewing with? Avoid that by doing your homework. Know the company inside out – its mission, its products, even the CEO's name. It shows you care and are prepared. 3. Questions are Your Best Friend: When they ask if you have any questions, shine with some well-thought-out ones. It's your chance to impress and show you've done your research. 4. Your Experience Toolbox: Worried about what they'll ask? Align your skills and experiences with the job description. Have examples ready for those "Tell me about a time when..." questions. It's all about showing how you're the perfect fit. 5. Practice Makes Perfect: Practice your answers, but don't just recite them like a robot. Make it natural, like you're telling a story to a friend. It'll help you relax and convey your answers more confidently. Think of the interview as a conversation, not an interrogation. It's about finding out if you and the company are a good match for each other.

Here's a formula to answer "Tell me about yourself" perfectly Use these 3 Key Points 1- Begin with your Brand Statement, a concise description of who you are professionally and your years of experience in your field. This statement should remain consistent each time you use it. 2- Share your journey into the industry and express your passion for it. Demonstrating your enthusiasm and dedication will instill confidence in your potential employers regarding your commitment to the job. 3- Provide highlights of your achievements, emphasizing significant accomplishments without delving into exhaustive detail. Remember, you'll have opportunities to elaborate further during the interview. You should be able to respond to this question within 2 minutes, and it's crucial not to falter, as it's likely the first question you'll be asked.

Be you and get the best trick to get good motives in an interview is to be genuine and authentic. Show your passion and enthusiasm for the role and company, and be honest about your reasons for wanting the job. It's important to do your research on the company and the role so that you can speak knowledgeably about why you are interested in the position. Additionally, be prepared to discuss how your skills and experience align with the company's mission and values. This will help you to convey a strong and compelling motive for wanting the job.

Doubt and fear can drain you right before you have a big moment of performance ahead of you, no matter what it is, a presentation, a job interview or a test. However, acting from a place of complete confidence and certainty in your abilities will make the different between success and failure. Here's a technique from author Nate Zinsser from his book The Confident Mind: 1-Cue Your Conviction: use a powerful, short statement to "cue" your own conviction in your skills. This will give you a sense of control. For instance: here's my chance to ace the interview! 2-Breathe Your Body: take a deep breath to focus on the present moment and bring up your energy level. 3-Focus 100% on the task at hand: this reduces the mind chatter and distractions. Become completely engrossed and fascinated by what you need to do.

You don’t need to know a particular subject matter super well in order to conduct a great source interview Know, at least, the tip of the iceberg. Do enough research to ask the right questions (and questions that excite you!) in order to thoughtfully drive the interview If your source says something you’re not familiar with, speak up, ask a question, and be honest. “Could you clarify what you mean by that?” “Could you give an example?”  “I’m not familiar with XYZ, could you explain what that means?”  “Is this something common in your role, or something you’ve coined/are experimenting with?”  “When you say XYZ, do you mean [....] as an example?” If your job is to simplify complex ideas for your audience, this will only help you. You’ll learn the topic at hand better, get clear examples for your piece, and have a more enjoyable conversation 🤝

Reminder to self: Things aren’t always within our control, and that’s ok. Often, we tend to overthink: “What if I don’t get the job?” “What if nobody likes my content?” “What if clients don’t like my work?” Truth is, you can’t control whether you land the job, but you can prepare for the interview; you can’t control whether others like your content, but you can test something new every day. We often focus so much on the outcome, that we lose sight of what’s more important: our input. As a result, we feel nothing is worth trying if it’s not going to end well. But would the view on top still be worthwhile if the climb was easy? So to whoever needs to hear this today - You get to decide how to make the most out of today, tomorrow, and the day after. Your goals aren’t too big, you just need to shift your focus.
