I completely agree: a good outcome without a solid process behind it is nothing more than circumstantial “success”. And the long-term results of bad processes will eventually catch up with the organization. By that time, the remediation that needs to be done to fix a festering problem might be economically devastating. Additionally, when Team Members are used to taking short cuts, it’s almost impossible to sell them on doing the right thing. They become habituated to the mediocrity and jaded toward the idea that any improvements will be sustained. This is because many Team Members have put forward improvements only to see them ignored, so they adopt a “#### it” attitude and do the minimum, because they see that the organization doesn’t reward excellence or correct carelessness. It just rewards superficial “success”, measured by raw output. #kaizen #processthinking #rootcauseanalysis #warehousing #organizationalculture
What frustrates me the most about the fulfillment and operations industries: We reward outcomes. Regardless of the decision-making. I'd take a bad outcome with good decision-making over a good outcome with bad decision-making every. day. of. the. week. #operations #logistics #fulfillment #ecommercefulfillmenet #warehouse #3pl #leadership
