Mankato West High School’s football team was perennially winless until shortly after Tim Walz’s arrival. The previous season, the varsity team didn’t score a touchdown through the first six weeks. Three years later, in 1999, they won the state championship. “Was Walz a tactical genius? Was he responsible for turning the team around?
