2024 Exceptional Woman in Australian Resources | Operations and Business Leadership I Non Executive Director | GAICD

🌟 **Breaking Barriers and Leading with Purpose** 🌟 Last week I spoke at the WA Women in Leadership Summit - a great opportunity to connect with leaders from a range sectors across WA. I reflected on the challenges and progress in my own career. My messages: 1. Resilience: difficult things, and the stress that follows, enable growth and insight into yourself and the experience of others. This is essential for developing as a leader with purpose. Channel your adversity into advocacy. 2. Change Making: As a senior woman in the industry, I’m committed to championing diversity, flexible work, and mentoring the next generation of leaders. 3. Measures of Success: Raising three children while leading large teams has required adaptability and support, but it’s possible to succeed in both. When you lead in complex environments and also have a complicated life, measuring success is about recognising progress rather than ticking off a bunch of goals. 4. Leadership: True leadership is about creating space for others to thrive.

Thanks to Ashley McGrath (pictured) for the invitation to the ‘Women in Leadership Summit’ held at the The Westin Perth (and other Australian capital cities simultaneously). Day 2 of the summit featured another great line-up of speakers who shared with us their stories and practical tips for success. A sincere thank you to… The Hon. Julia Gillard AC Dr Shirley Bowen Amy Stanley The Rt. Hon. Helen Clark Frank Flintoff Meagan Shand DLI Margaret Chinowaita Olivia Trembath Rebecca Darby Grace Molloy Rachel Oliver Josie Fourie for delivering exceptional messages that enlightened and empowered discussions on the most critical topics. I particularly enjoyed how Julia Gillard and Helen Clark shared the importance of having a sense of purpose, encouraging us to write down our vision, make it clear and run with it. As with every event, I love reconnecting with old colleagues and making new connections. Thank you to the team at The Hatchery (Hub) and all those involved in the ‘Women in Leadership’ summit. ✨

Congratulations Josie. You delivered an exceptional message on leadership, in particular about measuring success. Working whilst raising children is a juggle but rewarding. I left inspired! Thank you ✨
