We don't have a creative HR company. Times will change, but in the meantime we all need to adapt. Social media managers are in a unique spot with most companies they work with. Focus on the experience you are getting and do your best to create a lifestyle that curates a "24/7 always on" mentality. Experiences to focus on ⤵️ 1. Your point of contact is either a director of ops or the CEO of the company — that's incredible positioning in any company. You will learn so much from both of those people. 2. You are managing someone else's team (you also have to manager your own team and systems) so you are getting really good at communicating subjects, projects, or tasks to people who most likely do not understand your jargon and you are not their manager — cross department knowledge and authority is how you get stuff done! Getting good at this is incredible power to have for future roles. 3. You are working with, but also a huge part of: - the sales team - planning and managing events or activations - you help with hiring - you market the launch of new product releases - you are defining culture - and you are probably asked to problem solve on different digital platforms because you are the "tech" person in most conversations you have. This is just a fraction of the experience you are getting as social media manager. Do you what you need to do in your personal life to make this work, you have an incredible future ahead of yourself! You are becoming a CMO! Thank you JT Barnett for always dropping gems and keeping my mind active! 🙌

My friends, the turnover for social media managers and social creatives within companies is so high that there should be a creative HR company specifically for managing burnout of these individuals. There are companies hiring a “social media manager” in their job description who in reality balances being a strategist, copywriter, producer, director, actor, spokesperson, editor, community manager, data analyst, customer service, and trend spotter. I’m not sure how it could be feasible to have great output for long periods of time with that all riding on one person. In the future (or with some of the best companies now) these roles are looked at strategically where you are realistic about which jobs can be bunched together and which need to be separate hires. 🙏🏻 #socialmedia

This is one of the main reasons why I created my Social Media Manager Program. When companies hire a “Social Media Manager” they’re usually not using the right title. “Online Marketing Manager” or “Online Marketing Director”would be more appropriate. An excellent, full-service Social Media Manager does bring a lot to the table. But the focus is always social media. Google is not social media. Websites are not social media. E-mail marketing is not social media. Our Social Media Managers specialize *specifically* in social media, and we charge accordingly. Nope, it’s not “cheap.” But it’s also not near as much as it costs a company to put someone full time on payroll. We’re hiring Social Media Managers in Texas right now. Its commission pay. It’s flexible. It’s fulfilling. It’s fun. And you won’t be expected to manage Google Business Accounts and websites.😉 Thanks for sharing this JT Barnett. #socialmediamanager

Chief Risk Taker + Director @ Future Proof Agency. Marketing, Digital Marketing and Graphic Design specialist. Past life: e-commerce boutique owner.
Each team member plays a crucial role, and expecting one person to embody them all would be like asking a ruckman to play an entire footy match alone – impressive, maybe, but ultimately limiting the potential for greatness. By embracing a team approach, clients receive specialised expertise. Designers do their bit, copywriters theirs, and strategists guide the journey with data-driven insights. This synergy ensures best practice management for every client, maximizing social media impact. Skills aside – each and every team member brings a unique perspective and voice to the table. This fuels creativity, leading to fresh, relevant campaigns that truly connect with audiences. It's a collaborative force that elevates our work beyond any individual's limitations.

Social Media strategist for brands ready to SCALE | the informal marketeer 🧍🏽♀️| Top Marketer of 2024
You’re hiring a social media manager. Not a strategist. You’re hiring a social media manager. not a director, content creator, graphic designer, community manager, social media data analyst. Times are changing. Social media managers are changing to specialists. Investing and hiring in social media means understanding you can’t expect 1 person to handle 10 roles. Because you’ll find that “1” will turn to “0” due to burnout. Dont get me wrong, using social media to scale is a great idea. But you can’t scale with just 1 person. Sooo, are you realllly ready to invest? 😁

Performance Marketing, Facebook Ads | Co-Founder, Adbuffs | Ex-Nielsen | 2X Failed Startup | Ads Need help? Let's talk!
“We are hiring a performance marketer” No, this isn’t a hiring post. Just a reality check. I want to talk about those companies who post such job postings and then expect a person who will magically solve all of their social media needs. A performance marketer is a combination of copywriter, media buyer, designer, creative strategist and data analyst. That means, a salary of 5 people with an experience of over 2 years: - Copywriter - Media Buyer - Designer - Data Analyst - Creative Strategist And you are expecting a single person to excel in all of these departments by offering them a mere 30k a month. Even if someone is ready to be a performance marketer for chump change, then they would either do a shabby job or are planning to scam you. That’s why I always say, if you want results then work with an experienced agency that can deliver assured results. Thoughts? #MarketingRealities #TalentExpectations

Community managers = people who do a range of work (from data analysis to stakeholder engagement) See below for an expanded list of the types of roles community managers can segue into 👇 (and by "segue" I mean "dedicate their energy to full time")
Executive Leader in Community and Customer Experience, driving organic growth and operational excellence for B2B tech companies worldwide
Ok #CMAD has come and gone. I formally declare that tomorrow shall become “Hire a Community Manager” Day. Too many of us have been displaced in the past 18 months to even be able to enjoy “Community Manager Appreciation Day” without a sense of raw irony. Here are just a few roles that a stellar community manager can thrive in: ✅ Project Manager ✅ Voice of Customer Program Manager ✅ Digital Marketing Manager ✅ Advocacy Program Manager ✅ Influencer Marketing ✅ MarOps ✅ Event Manager ✅ Social Media Manager ✅ Data Analyst ✅ Customer Success Manager ✅ Customer Enablement/Education/Training Program Manager ✅ Product Manager ✅ Product Marketing Manager ✅ Content Marketing Manager ✅ Business Analyst ✅ Copywriter/Copyeditor ✅ Customer Onboarding ✅ Employee Onboarding ✅ Employee L&D ✅ Sales Enablement ✅ Developer Relations/Developer Advocacy ✅ Corporate Communications/PR ✅ Recruiter/TA …and so many more. If you’re hiring for just about any role - especially one that is people-focused - give any of your community manager candidates a second look. We may not have the title but we definitely have a broad profile of skills (because we have always had to do the most with the least). We are scrappy, organized, and passionate. We will help your organization be more human-centric regardless of our roles. 💜 So do yourself a favor and hire a community manager today. 💜

Your creatives need --> SPACE <-- to think to process to decompress to put unexpected things together Room. To. Breathe. ✨ Like. This. Extra space for emphasis. Y'all get me now? NOT 17 back to back meetings. Pressuring them for ideas. Creative is not a microwave. You don't just "heat up new ideas." It. Does. Not. Work. Like. That. ✋🛑 📌 Friendly reminder: Your creatives should have deep work blocks. Every single day on their calendar. Don't hold them to their desk. Let them go adventure. Find inspiration. That is NOT "wasted time" It's creative time. Intentional creative time. And it's the best investment you can make. If you want to level up your creative output. -- 👋 P.S. We're hiring a Creative Strategist at Motion (Creative Analytics) Check out our careers page for details!
