How can we heal a broken U.S. mental health system? That’s the question #SMU faculty member Neely Myers addresses in this recent Authority Magazine article. Myers is a psychological and medical anthropologist with over 20 years of research on the ways the US mental health care system treats individuals experiencing psychosis and trauma. Her forthcoming book, "Breaking Points: Youth Mental Health Crises and How We All Can Help", is based on ethnographic research that has been funded nearly continuously by the National Institutes of Health since 2009. https://lnkd.in/gdnQGQfp #mentalhealth #mentalhealthcare

The 2024 Alive NationalMental Health Lived-Experience Priorities Study for young people living with mental ill-health (aged 16-25) and their carers, family, or kinship groups is now active! Their goal is to ensure they are informed of the mental health priorities of Australians throughout the life course and that their research agenda aligns closely with the needs of those who it is for. This year, they have decided to offer more than the usual survey and co-design, and you get to choose how you would like to take part. There are four different participation methods to help generate and prioritize mental health research topics: an online survey, photo interviews, emotion mapping, and crowdsourcing.
