NSP @ GCB Bank PLC || Bank Teller ||UGBS|UG Alumni || ACCA Level 2 || Aspiring Business Analyst || Entrepreneur || Former LHJCR|UG Organizing Secretary
Reflecting on my enriching three-month journey as a bank teller at GCB Bank PLC. The alarm clock sets the tone at 5:00 am, and the day unfolds with a whirlwind of responsibilities, culminating in evenings that often stretch until 8 pm. The pressure from senior colleagues and the challenges posed by customers weave a complex tapestry that defines the daily hustle and puzzle of a banker. While the bank ostensibly closes its doors to the public by 4 pm, the real job of a bank teller begins in earnest at that hour. The meticulous process of ensuring that physical cash aligns seamlessly with the digital records is what we aptly term the "journey to balance." It's not merely about receiving and giving cash; it's about meticulous attention to detail. However, the role transcends the traditional perception of a teller. Call-overs become a crucial part of the routine, where auditing the work of colleagues becomes paramount to guaranteeing the accuracy of daily transactions. The responsibility is immense, and the pressure is tangible, but these challenges have become the crucible for my professional development. Amidst the seemingly relentless demands, these three months have proven to be an invaluable period of learning and adaptation. Each day has been a stepping stone toward a deeper understanding of the intricacies of banking. The ability to adapt swiftly to changing circumstances has become second nature, and the connections forged with colleagues have been a source of support and camaraderie. As I navigate the multifaceted world of banking, I look back at these initial months with gratitude. Gratitude for the lessons learned, the challenges overcome, and the connections made. Here's to embracing the ongoing journey with enthusiasm, resilience, and a commitment to continuous growth. #BankingJourney #ProfessionalReflections #Adaptability #ContinuousLearning 🏦💼✨

Building products and optimizing processes for businesses. Making businesses better than I met them| Intrapreneur| Business Analyst
True story one Monday afternoon. I walk into the bank branch close to my workplace to complete a transaction. Then one of the cashiers (we’ll call Angelo) says to me: Angelo: “Oforma, how are you not working here, Bro?” Oforma: You guy’s hiring? (I tease) Angelo: Totally, Bro. You dress like a banker you’ll nail it. You’ve got that vibe. Oforma: (I laugh) I don’t know, man. I worked for a bank before, but I don't think I want to sp-- Angelo: *Cuts me off* Listen, I’m sending you this link. Apply and you could even say I referred you. Angelo: Just think about it, Bro. How did a guy I met 3 weeks ago at the bank get so invested in me? It’s called conversation. Just engage. Start talking to people.

I celebrate 20 years @ Diamond Trust Bank! This momentous occasion allows me to reflect upon an exciting journey filled with growth, embracing challenges, achieving milestones, and the unwavering power of teamwork and resilience. Over this period, I have had the honor of witnessing and actively participating in the growth and transformation of DTB. Each step forward has presented new opportunities for personal and professional development, encouraging me to embrace challenges. Starting with Corporate Banking, I honed my skills in understanding market dynamics and identifying opportunities for growth. As my career progressed, I ventured into the realm of products and marketing, where I learned the art of crafting compelling narratives and creating value propositions that resonate with customers. This experience not only enhanced my strategic thinking and market awareness but also cultivated my understanding of customer-centricity. The pivotal moment in my journey was assuming the role of Chief of Staff, where I have the privilege of supporting and collaborating with senior executives. This position demands both a broad range of skills and a holistic view of the organization and allows me to contribute to strategic decision-making and facilitate effective communication across departments. The role of Chief of Staff continues to broaden my perspectives and has instilled in me a heightened sense of responsibility and leadership. Through this journey, I have encountered obstacles and setbacks. However, instead of seeing them as roadblocks, I have learned to view them as stepping stones towards personal growth. These challenges have tested my resolve, expanded my capabilities, and fostered resilience in the face of adversity. They have taught me that success often lies on the other side of perseverance and determination. Milestones and achievements have punctuated this remarkable journey. From small victories to significant accomplishments, each milestone has served as a reminder of fulfilling collective goals. Whether it was implementing innovative solutions, or delivering outstanding projects, these achievements have been the result of commitment to excellence. The friendships forged, the knowledge shared, and the moments of collaboration and camaraderie have shaped me both personally and professionally which have enriched my life. It is with a full heart that I express my appreciation for the trust, support, and opportunities that this organization has provided me starting with the Group CEO and MD, Mrs. Nasim Devji and my fellow Executive Committee members whose unwavering support, dedication, and commitment have been instrumental in my personal and professional growth. As I celebrate 20 years of growth and achievements, I also eagerly look towards the future with a sense of optimism and excitement. I am grateful for the opportunities that lie ahead, the possibilities that await me, and the new milestones yet to be reached.

Hello Connections, I'm Glad to share that I have successfully completed all the tasks in Personal Banking job simulation offered by Citi at Forage Let me add how to complete the tasks which may be helpful for you to complete. Task 1 : Frame a demographic question about the existing credit card customers in Word document and also gather upto which extent they are satisfied with the service of Citibank by framing various questions in a E-mail Format. Task 2 : The surveys which are collected from the people in task 1 are presented in a PPT format (for eg. People who fall in the income level between 50,000 to 1,00,000 are likely to spend more using credit card services). Then salient features about the credit card like rewards, Fees, promotion offers etc. Task 3 : Data which are collected from the Google form are presented into a raw data to you and convert that raw data into a customer data survey in a format of pie chart and bar Chart. Task 4 : In the final task you have to combine all the collected data from the existing credit card customers and frame it in a PPT format like customer insights , spending insights, Charge insights etc I hope doing this certificate will bring knowledge about personal banking. #personalbanking #Forage #Skillsdevelopment #Careerdevelopment

In July I will have been working in Banking for 38 years, the initial 31 with NatWest and the last 7 here at Handelsbanken in Colchester. I've somehow managed to go through this journey with only having to have 2 job interviews (which given the changing world we all now have to operate in is probably a good thing for me!). Over this time, I have met a wonderful range of people and professional contacts many of whom have become long-term friends both inside & outside of the work environment. However, life is too short and I have now made the difficult decision to call time upon my Banking career & allow someone else the opportunity to continue in my footsteps. At the moment, I'm undecided as to where my destiny lies. As many of you will be aware, outside of the bank I am a very keen amateur photographer, having been short-listed in a number of high profile National & Global Photography competitions over the years. With this in mind, I'm thinking it might be an opportune time to spend more time on my photography, both commercial and retail (who wouldn’t want a limited edition award winning print hanging on their walls?). However, these plans are still in the very early stages & as we all know, nothing is set in stone. I'm sure other opportunities may well present themselves in various ways over the course of time & as such, I'm not discounting anything. The last 7 ½ years at Handelsbanken have been refreshing and at times a revisiting of the halcyon days of banking when the Bank Manager, based in the same area as the clients actually knew their customers and could make credit decisions at a local level. The advantage of having a true local relationship service has been clear to see with many clients benefiting from introductions made over the years, particularly for those operating in the local property sector. This way of working was somewhat different in my latter years working for NatWest/RBS when I was expected to look after large Law firms based throughout Essex & Kent. I can readily admit now that my knowledge of the local market in Maidstone, Ashford & other Kentish towns was somewhat lacking! The conversations I have had over the years with ex banking colleagues have confirmed that the skills learned throughout the banking career are clearly transferable to a multitude of other businesses & sectors. When you’ve done the job for as long as I have you really do become a little institutionalised and what others see as a strength is just ‘normal’ behaviour for you. With this in mind, I look forward to using these skills built up over the years in whatever venture I decide to pursue. Thanks to all & everyone one of you for everything we have achieved over the years & for my existing clients, I know you are going to continue to be well looked after and as such there is nothing for you to worry about. I’m going to still be about until the end of July and as such if you need anything in the interim please don’t hesitate to contact me.
