Solid Friday morning by Continuing our conversations and connections this morning with the Intelligent Wellhead Systems Summer Interns. Question: What career insights/advice would you give yourself starting out in your career that they can benefit from? Comment below! We've broken down our Emerging Energy Professionals workshop to provide insights and skillsets for navigating this market. In our first session, we set summer goals, addressed imposter syndrome and limiting beliefs, and set challenges to increase our LinkedIn networks and begin engaging with the industry. Our next session will be more tailored to cover the gap areas they would like to address, such as communication with confidence, influencing others (sales), and building their network in person. I'm looking forward to continuing these conversations with this group. It was great to hear about their experiences and outlooks from their time at IWS so far. Intern Insights: - Everyone at IWS is extremely nice and helpful (no surprise). - The industry is surprisingly fascinating, especially the science and tech behind extracting O&G from underground. - The benefits of in-person/office work, including networking and mentorship, are being well understood. - Building your network is crucial at any stage of your career, from standing out at career fairs to building your team. To help them out in their Industry LinkedIn networking goals, be sure to connect with the following: Allison Kalbfleisch - Intern (University of Arkansas) Avery McKay - Intern (Texas A&M University Aysel R. - Intern (University of Houston) Benjamin Brady - Intern (Texas A&M University) Walker Tally - Intern (Texas A&M University) I’m really digging the coaching/training and helping people gain the mindset to get out of their own way and achieve their goals. We all could use some guidance and personal growth opportunities. If you're feeling stuck and want to get out of your own way, reach out to me. Let's work together to unlock your potential. This is great Do you have any interest in a connection with the head of the science department at my alma mater? They're always keep on getting a graduation-job pipeline, and oil and gas is obviously a very lucrative field

4moMaybe this one is too cliche, but become the "get it done" person. Full stop. Even very early on, the less handholding you require, the more you're able to embrace and respond productively to uncertainty and ambiguity, the better off you'll be. Yes, everyone loves a fully baked learning and development program. "Tell me exactly what I need to know, when and how I need to use it, and what good looks like." But so terribly often, we don't have any of that. And yet problems still have to get solved. Don't wallow in isolation, letting yourself drown when someone can easily throw you a life preserver. At the same time, don't yell for a life preserver every time your toes touch the water. You'll do great!
