Climate change causing California wildfires? From the California State Fire Marshall: "95% of the wildfires in our jurisdiction are caused by people. That ranges from accidental to negligence to arson, and everything in between." on a question I posed to him and answered. No climate agenda is going to stop this. If, however, the insurance and building construction industry wants to solve this issue, spend the money on using building materials like MgO that are noncombustible rather than combustible wood products in fire regions. MgO also sequesters carbon as a matter of its chemistry while in use, wood does not. Wood only stores the carbon, and its former tree no longer sequesters carbon dioxide, and any replacement seedlings will take many decades to equal the amount of CO2 sequestered by that now felled tree that produced the wood that built these structures thus the rise in CO2 atmospheric concentrations. As the world population continues to increase, this will only get worse unless other approaches and materials to building structures are looked at rather than using only wood products. Look for our US MgO mega factories coming soon. Mike Cregan Robert (RY) Scarborough (LION 3K) David Salem Klaus Meyer Mustaafa Ali

September is National Preparedness Month. Ready.gov has shared the 2024 Theme is “Start a Conversation” And we agree - Today is the perfect day to 'start a conversation' or to continue talking about disaster preparedness with your friends, family and neighbors. Taking a few simple steps now can make all the difference if an emergency happens. Let's start our conversation with Red Flag Day routines or PSPS (Public Safety Power Shutdown) preparations for your animals. We recommend: ✅ Filling extra water troughs - horses can drink up to 20 gallons on a hot day ✅Be prepared for automatic waterers and electric fencing to be without power ✅Buy block ice or freeze water bottles - can be used as cooling options ✅Stage coolers for food and medications that need to be kept cold ✅Adequate supplies and food for your pets ✅Back up lighting sources (and batteries) - lanterns, flashlights, headlamps, etc ✅Secure fuel for generators and vehicles - gas stations may be closed ✅Inspecting vehicles and trailers to make sure all is in working order ✅Stage carriers, crates and trailers - for rapid exit, if needed ✅Open (or at least know how to manually open) electric gates and garage doors Talk to us! What would you add to this list? #NationalPreparednessMonth #NapaCounty

Protect Your Home & Family During Fire Season Living in our beautiful community means taking steps to reduce fire risk — for our safety and to protect our biggest investments: our homes. As a board member of the Barber Winship Park Firewise Community in San Anselmo, I’m passionate about helping our neighborhood stay safe. Here are some crucial tips for fire season preparedness: 1️⃣ Sign Up for Alerts: Make sure you’re signed up for Alert Marin and Nixle Alerts to get timely warnings and know your evacuation zone. 2️⃣ Stay Updated on Weather: Watch out for Red Flag Warning days, and have your evacuation plan ready. 3️⃣ Pack a Go-Kit: Essentials like water, batteries, non-perishable food, and pet supplies should be ready to grab in an emergency. 4️⃣ Harden Your Home: Install vent screens, clear foliage within 5 feet of your home, and consider fire-resistant materials. Avoid using power tools on hot, dry days! 5️⃣ Be Informed: Visit @FireSafe_Marin for more tips on how to protect your home and community. Stay prepared, stay safe. #MarinCountyRealEstate

❄️ A powerful winter storm has severely hit Westchester, Fairfield, parts of the Hudson Valley, and the New York metropolitan area, leaving behind dangerous travel conditions due to heavy snowfall and strong winds. Schools, government offices, and businesses have closed, while New York City canceled in-person teaching, opting for remote learning, although technical issues prevented many students from accessing the system. Residents are urged to stay home whenever possible. State and local authorities, including the governors of New York and Connecticut, have mobilized snow removal crews and emergency personnel to respond to the storm, which has led to numerous accidents due to icy roads. Snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches have been reported in some areas, and adverse conditions are expected to continue affecting commutes and public safety.
