In this life-saving webinar, we will explore how each Allied Health professional and caregiver can take an active role in optimizing respiratory health for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) patients and clients. This webinar will help your organization to have the confidence to accept the next ALS patient referral. This program is fully intended for professionals who work with ALS patients infrequently. It will provide an overview of how respiratory health is impacted by ALS and ways the entire healthcare team can intervene to improve patients’ quality of life through better respiratory function. ALS is a rapidly progressive neurodegenerative disorder that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. It is a cruel disease that gradually paralyzes all voluntary muscles, robbing patients the ability to speak, eat, move, and eventually breathe. There is no cure for ALS yet with death resulting mainly from respiratory failure three to five years after symptom onset. As the exact underlying causative pathological pathway is unclear and potentially diverse, finding a suitable therapy to slow down or possibly stop disease progression remains challenging. The ALS Association is urgently working towards making ALS a livable disease for everyone, everywhere, until we can cure it. You and your clinicians and caregivers can truly help make a difference and enhance quality of life for your patients and clients if you understand what to look for and interventions that you can implement on their behalf. https://lnkd.in/eF5tQtnd #HomeCare #Medicare #HCAFLA #Florida #Webinar #HomeHealth #healthcare #als #education #ceus #continuingeducation

With a career marked by dedication and innovation, I stands out as a medical professional with extraordinary experience. My approach to healthcare is characterized by a unique blend of empathy and expertise.
🩺💼 Hello Medical Community and Dear Fellows: Today I'd like to shed some light on a common phenomenon that many of us in the medical field encounter, known as "White Coat Syndrome". This term is used to describe patients who experience higher blood pressure readings in a medical setting than they do in other contexts, often due to anxiety related to visiting a healthcare provider. White Coat Syndrome can potentially lead to misdiagnosis of hypertension if not properly recognized and accounted for. This makes it essential for us as healthcare professionals to ensure our patients feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible during their visits and to consider multiple readings in various settings before diagnosing high blood pressure. It's also equally important to educate our patients about this phenomenon. Many aren't aware that their anxiety can significantly influence their blood pressure readings. Encouraging patients to take readings at home or in a less stressful environment can help to provide a more accurate picture of their overall cardiovascular health. Let's continue to promote patient-centered care by taking the time to understand and work around these psychological responses. By doing so, we can improve patient experiences, build stronger doctor-patient relationships, and ensure more accurate diagnoses. #Healthcare #WhiteCoatSyndrome #PatientCare #Medicine

Today marks World MS Day and it is a global initiative led by the INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION FOR MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS (MSIF) to raise awareness about #MultipleSclerosis (MS) and to support the patients we care most about and those affected by this condition. Today, I want to bring our MS community together in an effort to increase public understanding, promote research, and advocate for better services and support for people living with MS. So it is not just a time to reflect, but also to create solutions. Medication adherence is a crucial component of improved outcomes for MS patients, since consistent use of prescribed treatments can manage symptoms, slow disease progression, and enhance overall quality of life. The Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS) is an effective tool used by healthcare professionals, caregivers, and loved ones to measure and understand patients' adherence behaviors through an interventional approach. This scale helps identify barriers to adherence, such as side effects, forgetfulness, or financial constraints. The MMAS can also be incorporated into regular patient check-ins, allowing nurses to systematically assess and address adherence issues. By using structured conversations based on the MMAS, healthcare providers can offer targeted interventions and continuous support, ultimately leading to better disease management and improved health outcomes for MS patients. the company called adherence.

When seconds count in a heart attack, swift action and expert care are crucial. Each year, over 250,000 people in the US experience a STEMI (ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction), a severe heart attack that occurs when a major artery becomes blocked. Prompt medical attention is essential in these emergency situations to prevent significant damage and improve patient outcomes. A crucial factor in this care is door-to-balloon time, which measures the time from arrival to balloon inflation, when blood flow is restored. Faster times improve patient outcomes and reduce heart damage. The average door-to-balloon time is 60-90 minutes, and while times under 60 minutes are considered excellent, door-to-balloon times over 90 minutes can lead to increased heart damage and serious health complications. Recently, our team's rapid response and intervention were instrumental in saving a life, as our STEMI patient received timely treatment with a remarkably fast door-to-balloon time of just 37 minutes. We're grateful for our team's dedication to delivering timely, life-saving care when it matters most. #NorthwestHealthcare #NWHC #HealthcareHeroes | Terry Loftus | Dalton Homer, MHA | Nicole C.

According to the WHO, cardiovascular disease is the cause of approximately 18 million deaths. Yet, 90% of heart disease is treatable. 🤷♀️ We could reason that patients don't want to change. 🤷♀️ We could argue that they aren't willing to do the hard work of exercise. 🤷♀️ We could contend that our patient education will only fall on deaf ears, so why bother? These observations may be accurate to some extent. However, I hear my mom and coach's voices in my head. "You can't change anyone but yourself." To be agents of change begins with a close look in the mirror. As healthcare professionals... ✅ Are we willing to make the necessary changes to improve our health? ✅ Do we want to be an example for others? ✅ Are we willing to have hard conversations with patients, friends, and family about necessary lifestyle changes? ✅ Will we walk alongside those striving to change? If the answer is "YES," then we are the medicine. Lifestyle medicine is medicine. Agree or disagree?
