Consider hiring the Theatre major. When you study Theatre History- you study Culture, Politics, and World History. When you study Theatrical Design- you study Problem Solving and Creative Solutions When you study Acting and Directing- you study Communications and Psychology When you study Theatrical Tech- you study Computer Literacy and Technological Flexibility When you study Theatre Literature- you study Analysis and Critical Thinking. When you study Theatre, regardless of speciality, you have at least dabbled in all of the above... which is far from an exhaustive list. Not to mention the Energy and Passion. Hire the Theatre major.

Excellent theatre professionals are expressive, wired for deep connection, and detail-driven. They think in terms of the big “why” and what tactics they can use to achieve their “why.” They have deep wells of energy they can draw from if they catch your vision. No other major/job requires students/employees to memorizes hours worth of material, intimately know the themes and desires of the characters, and put together a presentation that leads an audience of strangers to understand and empathize with a story they may have never heard until that moment. If you have a story that needs telling, hire a theatre major.

A theatre education offers a multitude of benefits that extend far beyond the stage. Literally and figuratively, artists are wearers of many hats, displaying creativity, empathy, discipline, and adaptability. 🎩 Through theatre education, one develops essential skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, public speaking, and emotional intelligence. These skills are not only valuable in the performing arts but also in various career paths, including business, education, and healthcare. 👩🏫 It is crucial not to discredit the artist due to a lack of understanding of their profound influence and power. Embracing an individual with an theatre education empowers individuals and those around them! 🎭

"If you can't enjoy it, endure it" Theatre arts students especially from my institution will be familiar with this quote. This quote by our Theatre manager as we call him uncle Steve. _ Uncle Steve will always say to us "The journey to good life is never easy, it's either you enjoy the process or endure it to the end" _ When you quit you know what happens.... From the pre production to the production down to the post production stage of a theatrical performance, everything has to be intact and lively, you don't drop the energy. It's not easy at all being a Thespian, from going to lectures with other students down to sleeping at the auditorium day by day rehearsing. _ All these processes built and shaped me as a person, that's why you can hardly find a Thespian who's lazy, might be quiet and sluggish but that ability to endure the process is always there. _ Life itself is not easy brethren, it's way more than a theatrical production, do not be a spectator of your own life. Be the actor Take Incharge Give people the best you can offer Always enjoy every process of pain and struggle. _ I will tell you that, the production that takes time with so many difficulties which does not look like a promising one always tend to wow the audience. Please enjoy the process My favorite quote lately __"Everyone has a story to tell, give yours a happy ending" Have a great day I am Agbocheni Lucky Your personal development coach #motivation#selfdiscipline#inspiration

🎭 Theatre Students: Start Building Your Portfolio Early! 🎭 Coming from an educational administrator and a Theatre professional. As someone who has studied theatre for 4 years, my journey has been fueled by passion. I started acting in church dramas, volunteered to perform in different places, and participated in numerous productions both inside and outside the theatre. These experiences shaped my love for storytelling and performing arts. Now, I’m taking the bold step to pursue my dreams further with a master’s in film, directing, and more . But here’s the catch—every application I’ve encountered asks for a portfolio. A portfolio that no one told us, as theatre students, we’d need or how crucial it would be for our careers. At this moment, I find myself stuck—struggling to prove my journey and passion with a structured portfolio. And I know I’m not alone in this. To every theatre student out there: Start early. Document everything. Every role, every performance, every project matters. Your portfolio isn’t just about showcasing your work; it’s a testament to your growth, dedication, and potential. Let’s change the narrative. Let’s prepare future theatre professionals to step into the industry with confidence and all the tools they need to succeed. If you’re in the arts, how did you build your portfolio? Or, what advice would you share with students just starting? Let’s share and grow together. #Theatre #PortfolioBuilding #ArtsEducation #CreativeJourney #Storytelling

Check out my latest blog interview for Central Florida Vocal Arts & Opera del Sol featuring the topic of taking lessons from performing arts experiences and applying them to other aspects of your life. Give it a read!
SOUND CHECK WITH LILY KRAMER Well-Rounded: Lily Kramer Shares How Theatre has prepared her for a Career Outside of the Performing Arts “I was really, really shy growing up. As an elementary schooler, I was so shy I wouldn't even raise my hand to answer a question. And once I started doing theater, and I started becoming confident talking in front of people, it really impacted me enough that now, I'll talk without even being asked to, and I'll raise my hand if I know the answer, and, you know, I feel a lot more confident, and if I have to speak in class and give a presentation, I'm a lot less nervous than I would have been before. And that's a life skill that will be very useful, going forward in whatever career path I end up going with.” Read more about Lily and her journey with the performing arts here: https://lnkd.in/eVQXWMWx #blog #SoundCheck #SoundCheckBlog #Interview #BlogPost #CentralFloridaVocalArts #Orlando #OrlandoFlorida #CentralFlorida

Thinking about majoring in theatre? Theatre alumnus Kevin Hanley (BA '17) reflects on his experience: "I came to the Theatre Department to study acting. Encouraged to explore every facet of theatre, I acted, directed, wrote, designed, and stage-managed. I was able to find my place in the professional theatre by exploring each discipline. This wide range of knowledge paired with mentorship I received (and still receive) from professors gave me the ability to confidently start my career as a professional stage manager." You’re So Out of Character …. Why is it that real theatre can give us consistent performance, day in day out. And why is it that many people in service roles, are up, down, high, low. Or simply inconsistent, when your brand is meant to be the opposite. Is it because they don’t know the secret that all actors understand? Acting never follows an imitation of a character, and not even role playing the role. That would be shallow. And the secret? They go into and become the character. Yes, it can be taught and it’s the most fascinating, interesting, and intriguing lesson you’ll learn and remember forever. I know, I did David’s class. David Scott is an inspiring and super teacher and if you want your service people to reflect your brand, and be consistent and effective, then please do book David Scott You can learn how your team can stay in character and give your brand consistency. Yesterday I finished a 5 day Clown workshop with my Physical Theatre Institute students. Clown is not a character but your own self which you do not easily show in your daily life. It is not limited to clowning in theme parks and on the streets. In its essence clowning is a game on your own self, which is VERY HARD because many people either do not know their own self or do not admit its existence. But once you find it, you will be transported to another paradise. Clown possesses strong therapeutic values as well as self learning capacities. It can still be ‘performed’ but it is not about demonstrating what and how well you can do as a performer in the ordinary sense but living in your own self to deal with your own problems. You seem to be out of the reality, becoming a poet in action. When you make everyone laugh, you also make them look into their own self.
