Many event pros are Open to Work on LinkedIn. You should hire them. Whether your company does events or not, I cannot recommend enough hiring event professionals. They are awesome at: Operations Project management Customer success They make stuff happen. They are what AI will never be able to do. But most of all, these are incredibly gifted people who don’t flinch when presented with the most challenging task. Hire a planner.

A supervisor once told me that I was hired for my very specific skillset of "event planning" like I was a one shot pony. I giggled because this is what is misunderstood about what we do. We run full on micro-businesses multiple times over. We manage logistics, operations, security, content, interior design, marketing, sales, sponsorship, human resources, data analysis and sometimes we move chairs and clear plates. We can and do almost everything.

Julius Solaris you hit the nail on the head: it's astonishing that in 2024, event management remains one of the most underrated and underappreciated professions. The skillset of an event professional is incredibly versatile and transferable. From strategic planning and logistics to crisis management, marketing, sales, and customer experience, event professionals possess a unique blend of creativity, organization, adaptability and financial acumen that's hard to find in any other profile.

Interesting statement here, Julius, that I'd extend to include "hospitality". And, of course, this is precisely what happened during Covid. The entire sales team at one five star hotel with which I'm familiar was hired (for major bucks) by a big tech company. Why? Because they had a unique (for tech) service attitude, customer relationship focus and could draw from a deep well of competencies and skills. Event and hospitality people - and particularly those with a PCO / DMC background - routinely access a wide and varied arsenal of hard and soft skills to perform their daily tasks. #Eventprofs do budgets, finance, planning, creativity, organisation, logistics, relationships, out-of-the-box thinking, attention to detail, strategy, HR, vendor management, talent management, asshole management ... hire them, before they hire you!

THIS!! When people misperceive us as just amazing “party planners” when we are SO much more! Our roles touch all functions and we wear multiple hats and juggle multiple priorities and projects all while projecting calm and professionalism. Love our industry and the fabulous event professionals who are passionate about our roles and who are always striving to get that well deserved seat at the executive table!

1000%! We are project managers on steroids! Throw us anything (short of some sort of complicated IT programming project where we have to actually do the code) and we'll figure it out!

Yes, for sure. As a past planner and recruiter, I agree this skill set is highly transferable to success in many occupations.

Julius Solaris rightly said. Infact this is the irony, they don't value us event professionals much than we deserve.

We see this everyday. Event and Field teams do some heroic stuff and don't get enough credit. Marketing, Sales, Operations, IT, etc. etc. They pull off amazing stuff.
