According to the 2024 – 2030 World Bank Gender Strategy to accelerate gender equality for a sustainable, resilient, and inclusive future; advancing gender equality requires financing, including mobilizing and allocating resources effectively in the public and private sectors. Integrating gender analysis in fiscal policy, budget management, and procurement systems can enhance allocation of public resources and address structural barriers to gender equality. External resources can motivate clients to design and implement better policies and programs, and to provide evidence of the impacts. In our conversation with Director General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and President Christine Largarde of ECB at the last IWD, we highlighted that trade liberalisation is linked to a higher accumulation of education and skill for women. It is remarkable to see and witness a proactive step in this direction less than a year later, as last week in Abu Dhabi, the World Trade Organization and the International Trade Centre launched the WOMEN EXPORTERS IN THE DIGITAL ECONOMY FUND, at the margin of the 13th Ministerial Conference (MC13).
