As your school board member, I will : 🇺🇸PRIORITIZE LITERACY As the ONLY teacher in this race, and as your school board member, I will be fiscally responsible by directing resources and helping our superintendent to implement science-based reading methods as our standard, not just an option. Together, we will raise up our entire community, especially the most vulnerable members. 🇺🇸EXPERIENCE My children attend a Title 1 school, so I am heavily invested in making sure children from ALL walks of life succeed. I am the only candidate that has walked the walk in a community that has struggled with literacy, felt the effects of bus driver shortages, and teacher shortages. 🇺🇸FREEDOM FOR FAMILIES I support educational freedom to choose public, private, charter, homeschool, or a hybrid. I also have hands on experience in making failing schools an excellent choice too. Have you ever heard a member of your community say, "where do all the newly confirmed go after Confirmation?" I've come up with a response that most aren't prepared for. I say, "who is asking them to stay, have you?" The thing is, we make assumptions. We think that we've provided the young people with the truth, what could they need? That's why our parish has begun an initiative called 'Wanted, Welcomed, Needed!". The first step has been to add a session after Confirmation called a Mystagogy Party. The purpose is to unpack the sacrament, and introduce the ministries that they'd be suited for, and to practically show them what they entail. We've invited a group of young people to mentor the rising 8th graders as they prepare to begin the process themselves, and are empowering them to take ownership. It means a cultural shift, one that all parishes should be undertaking, especially because if these young people aren't engaged in the next decade, parishes will be in dire circumstances. #Wanted #Welcome #Needed #Empowerment #TeenMinistry #GrowthMindset

You will experience the real issues to why so many children and young people are being failed. Take responsibility and realise that many diagnosed and undiagnosed children with a hidden disability are being forced to go to school and when they don't go. The horrific and traumatic approach and behaviour from many untrained staff and TAs causing more damage to the mental wellbeing of our children and us parents... Never ends! Let's talk about years of LA panel refusing to understand one's child's diagnosis and comparing to other children. Yes I get it! but this one size fit all approach and no window to understand how autistic, ADHDers and PDAers children and young people and parents constantly penalised. You would think once they become young adults 16 plus things get better! Not at all as you see how they try and downsize your child's diagnosis to remove what's in their EHCP if they seem OK. My trio mask and how that has caused so much pressure on me. Hate the education system for the years of denial, lies and sabotage and parent blaming.. There are afew understanding teachers and TAs but not enough who still understand the dynamics of the impact of why so many children with a hidden disability miss school.
