🌟 Recruiting Tip Tuesday: Let's talk about the three must-haves when building your dream team! 1️⃣ Attitude over Aptitude: Skills can be taught, but a positive attitude is gold! Look for candidates who bring sunshine to the office ☀️. After all, who doesn't want to work with a human ray of sunshine? 2️⃣ Diversity is the Spice of Work Life: Embrace the rainbow of perspectives! A mix of backgrounds and experiences adds flavor to the workplace stew. Let's create a melting pot of brilliance! 3️⃣ Interviews: Less Inquisition, More Conversation: Swap the interrogator hat for the chat master cape! Interviews are a two-way street. Make it a friendly dialogue, not an inquisition. The best connections start with a good old-fashioned conversation! Job Interview Coach | Helping you be your BEST self in interview | Former Recruiter (LinkedIn/Google/PayPal) | Certified CV/ Resume Writer, LinkedIn Profile Writer | Empathetic Human
What a flashback I had recently! I was in a session with a client, focused on interview coaching. My sessions are not just skills-based. With my background in recruitment, I make it my job to provide holistic advice so clients understand much more than how to interview. While explaining to the client how I’d usually make an offer and what that process would typically looks like, I was suddenly back at my desk in LinkedIn, on the 5th floor of Wilton Plaza in Dublin, calling a candidate… I realised, after 5 years, I still have the same flow I had back then, moving to offer was such an enjoyable part of the job!! I’d typically kick off with “Would you like some good news today?” (goosebumps) I’d then proceed to explain the process around reference check, background check, timelines, all relevant logistics. It literally felt in that moment as if 5 days had passed, not 5 years?! 😲 _________ It made me think about career gaps and how most of us worry... The skills we build, if nurtured, do not simply evaporate. The knowledge you gain is yours. The passion for the work often remains the same, if not renewed! Career gaps can be refreshing, invigorating. Necessary, needed! Let’s work to remove the lingering stigma once and for all! Happy Friday! (especially to job-seekers AND my LinkedIn ex-colleagues 😉) P.S. The company merch was always good! Here’s my EMEA Talent team jacket, if something is windproof, it’s that thing right there! #recruiting #careergaps #endthestigma

When I first started in recruitment, I thought I needed to adopt this persona. 👉 The 'no teeth smile'. 👉 The ‘never show your personality’ vibe. 👉 The ‘don’t show emotions' in meetings. 👉 The ‘talk like a robot'. Soon I realised that what makes a recruiter amazing is their ability to connect with candidates and clients. And that means showing their human-ness. 👉 Their sense of humour. 👉 Their unique personality. 👉 Their empathy. 👉 Their life outside of work. So instead of trying to be this fake person, I decided to be me. And the same goes to you when you’re interviewing for jobs. On top of assessing your skills and experience, hiring managers and recruiters also want a candidate with a good cultural fit. By finding the right balance between being professional and being you, you can increase your chances of finding the right job for you 😉

Developer-turned-recruiter | I used to create software, now I help you to find a job that truly fits your future
“The candidate has withdrawn from the process” Company: “What!? Why?” By the time you scheduled a first interview, and then took several weeks for a follow-up, the candidate received three other offers. Company: “But our company is the BEST-ever. Everyone should want to work here. This candidate is just window-shopping.” I get it, I really do, from your perspective your company is the best and most fantastic company to work for. But the world of tech moves fast and high-calibre candidates are constantly being poached with competitive offers. Speed is crucial in recruiting. Move quick, or you might miss out on your ideal candidate.

Don’t just take any job! This might seem obvious. But job-seeking is a 𝐭𝐰𝐨-𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭. 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐫: Finding the best candidate fit for the role 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐞: Finding the best fit for their skill set and career/life goals Being sure to vet potential employers is crucial. And one key way is by 𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰. In-fact, most employers 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 you to have questions. If you don’t - not a good sign. So at the end of the interview, when they say, “Have any questions for us?” You best be ready. Think about it - if you have questions ready to go, it shows that: (1) You’re 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 about this role. (2) You did your 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡. (3) You’re 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐨𝐮𝐬. (4) You’re 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬. BONUS: Asking the right questions also shows that you: (a) actually understand what the role entails ↳ so the interviewer knows they’re not wasting their time (b) have industry-specific knowledge ↳ you know what questions need to be asked and addressed ————————— Interviewing for roles in a different area, Like moving from technical to sales/BD roles, Has it’s own set of challenges and nuance. Cracked the Gen Z Code: Interview Tips from a Newbie Recruiter Just finished my first round of interviews with a bunch of Gen Z rockstars, and let me tell you, their energy is contagious! But beyond the vibrancy, there were some key takeaways that any recruiter (or interviewee!) should keep in mind. Here's what intrigued me, feel free to add yours in the comment section. DOs: 1. Embrace the casual: Gen Z values authenticity. Show personality and ask genuine questions. 2. Speak their language: Ditch the jargon, embrace emojis (strategically), and get comfortable with TikTok references. They're fluent in the language of the internet, so meet them there. 3. Be mission-driven: Gen Z craves purpose. Show them how their role contributes to the bigger picture, not just the bottom line. Sustainability, growth, social impact, and making a difference matters to them. 4. Get real about flexibility: Forget the 9-to-5 grind. Gen Z values work-life balance and remote options. Show them how your company fosters a culture of flexibility and personal growth. DON'Ts: 1. Assume they're tech-savvy: They're digital natives, but not IT wizards. 2. Underestimate their ambition: They're not just looking for a paycheck. Show them growth opportunities, mentorship programs, and chances to learn new skills. Gen Z wants to be challenged and grow. 3. Forget the fun factor: Work is work, but it doesn't have to be boring. Show them your company culture is fun, collaborative, and values a healthy dose of laughter and creativity. Remember, Gen Z is the future of your workforce. By understanding their values and communication style, you can attract and retain the best talent. #GenZ #Recruitment #InterviewTips #FutureOfWork

𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐧! It's been a rollercoaster week, but as we head into the bank holiday we're already looking forward to next week with more exciting interviews taking place! 🎉 I've been loving the debate lately on John Lewis' decision to provide interview questions in advance, and seeing such varied opinions across Linkedin on the interview process. Something we've been noticing here at Greenbridge Recruitment is that a number of our clients are shifting away from a more formal, Q&A style interview, in favour of a much more relaxed discussion about what each party can bring to the table. We love this as it really highlights and embodies the fact that the interview process is a two-way street - certainly in the environmental sector which is such a candidate driven market at present; the interview is as much a chance for the employer to sell itself, as it is the candidate. I think it also provides a great insight into the company culture; there seems to be a strong correlation between this 'new' style of interview, and the company culture being one of an open, flexible, collaborative/equitable nature (e.g. employee-owned / flat management structure / remote). Recruiter friends and hiring managers, I'd love to hear from you - are interview styles changing in your sector? Are you noticing any changes in the way you / your clients or your candidates perceive the process? To all of our lovely candidates 𝘢𝘯𝘥 clients interviewing next week, we wish you the best of luck and look forward to some positive and productive discussions 💪 And a 𝐡𝐮𝐠𝐞 congrats to everyone that prospered this week! 🥂🎊 #environmentalrecruitment #interviews #recruitment #career #hiring
