ICYMI: Jupiter Power spoke with the Houston Chronicle this week about the company’s latest contribution to the ERCOT grid. The Callisto I project is Houston's first transmission-connected battery energy storage system, coming online ahead of triple-digit heat this week. “‘The battery is perfect for the city of Houston. It takes very little land use,’ said Caitlin Smith, Jupiter Power vice president of policy and corporate communications. ‘It responds instantaneously, and so it can meet the demand that Houston has when the power is not there.’ Read the full article here >> https://lnkd.in/dZE7jwSM #BatteryStorage #Energy #TexasEnergy #ERCOT

Everything is bigger in Texas, including energy storage. California has traditionally been the center of the storage industry, but that’s rapidly shifting as Texas continues to add storage capacity. Reuters and ERCOT predict that Texas’ storage capacity will grow to 16,000-17,000 MW by 2025/2026, making them the largest storage market, and Quidnet is well-positioned to be part of the ongoing storage revolution in Texas. https://lnkd.in/e5s4t3QT #EnergyStorage #Texas #Storage #Energy #LDES

Texas and California are leading the charge in battery storage advancements, thanks in part to Electric Power Supply Association Member Jupiter Power who opened Houston's first battery energy storage system (BESS) in Texas last month. Why This Matters: 1. Enhanced Grid #Reliability: By integrating large-scale battery storage systems, both states are making strides in stabilizing their grids, ensuring a more reliable power supply even during peak demands or unexpected outages. 2. Renewable Integration: This move makes green energy more consistent and dependable. 3. Cost Efficiency: With improved battery technology, energy storage costs will decrease, which translates to more affordable electricity for consumers and businesses. 4. Competitive Edge: As #EPSA members continue to be part of the benchmark, other states and regions will likely follow suit, driving further innovation and competition in the energy sector. This development is not just a win for these states but a crucial step forward for the entire energy landscape. It's an exciting time for those of us invested in the power supply industry—let's stay tuned to see how these advancements continue to shape the future! ⚡️ Texas Clean Energy Expansion Over the next 18 months, the vast majority of clean energy and storage capacity will be built in a small number of states. Texas is set to lead the country in clean energy expansion, planning to add 35.6 GW of solar, wind, and battery capacity in the next 18 months—more than double the combined planned capacity of California (11 GW) and Arizona (5.3 GW). Other states like Indiana, New York, Florida, and New Mexico also have notable projects, but on a much smaller scale. No state will see more growth in clean energy than Texas. Why is that? To understand why Texas is adding so much more capacity, it’s helpful to look at two big factors: booming demand and the state’s “connect and manage” approach to grid interconnection. The more the sun shines, the higher the energy demand and pressure on the grid 😰 But the more the sun shines, the more power is generated and it's finally catching up and out-performing the demand. ☀ The Texas electric grid set an all-time record for energy DEMAND on Tuesday BUT Monday and Tuesday also brought the top three days for solar power PRODUCTION in the history of the state grid! At a time when ERCOT would normally issue warnings to conserve power, Texas residents were able to cool down without fear of low power. #ERCOT #SolarPower #EnergyStorage https://lnkd.in/gZRyNhWh
