How do you encourage people to take the train more? Our #UrbanClab #CLK chapter investigated this in Indonesia as part of their field trip. In the UK, you typically have to convince people to get out of their cars. In Indonesia, the private motorcycle is king, with over 73% of trips made this way. To determine the real problem to be solved, we need to understand local context, the history and cultural importance of the railways, and to get the right people, in the right room, in the right mindset. Please read the work that Jack Rose and team have put together below to find out more... https://lnkd.in/dvT4iagd

The ITS Asia Pacific Forum, held in Jakarta on 28-30 May, not only showcased the latest transport technologies, but also provided a platform to discuss important issues. In the plenary session entitled "Riding Into the Future: Urban's Mobility New Frontiers", Oleg Zaretskiy, CEO of uScovery DMCC, shared his perspective on why he believes String Transport is the only viable solution to the world's growing transport challenges. String transport should be seen as the only sustainable, safe and affordable solution to transport problems, especially in developing countries. He stressed that by 2040, the massive increase in the number of cars on the road will lead to a transport crisis. Proportionally increasing the number of roads and bridges will not solve the problem due to space constraints. Furthermore, electric transport is not a viable solution as it will not reduce accidents or congestion. #stringtransport #unitskystringtechnologies
