Mexigo, my longest running marketing client, is a true success story in Southampton, open for almost 14 years! I took over their marketing during lockdown in the summer of 2020, focusing on refining their delivery offering. By enhancing their delivery service with high-quality imagery, informative item info, and close collaboration with Deliveroo reps, orders per day on Deliveroo have surged by an impressive 400-500%. As a result of our efforts, Mexigo now ranks second in order numbers within Southampton, only behind Burger King. Their Shredded Beef burrito is the most frequently ordered item from an independent restaurant in the whole of Hampshire on Deliveroo! Despite the growth in delivery orders, Mexigo continues to serve its loyal eat-in customers, experiencing bustling lunch and dinner periods daily. It's sometimes the case that brands will opt to not focus on their delivery options, due to the high percentages that can be given away to the services providing them, and therefore it seeming counter-intuitive in the short term. Offering a good delivery service though helps to introduce customers to your product who may not ever come across your store in person, and has the power to convert them into a dining-in customer as well moving forward. The high number of returning customers speaks volumes about Mexigo's food quality, with almost everything made fresh in their kitchen, including slow-cooked meats. If you have the chance to visit in person, you'll enjoy their delectable food at a lower price, with the flexibility to customise your meal by selecting your preferred ingredients. Don't sleep on this! #southampton #foodphotography #deliveroo #marketing

Fast food, isn't fast. They're current pulling out all the stops. They're using promotional offers to lure customers back in... As a lot of customers are spending less due to the financial issues. But, I believe they aren't addressing the real issue? Despite their name, many fast food restaurants are struggling with speed. Customers want fast food, because its fast... McDonald's, KFC etc in the post Deliveroo era often take 7-14 minutes to produce an order in store 🤯 In a world where convenience is king, I think this is a problem. Promotions might bring customers through the door, but retaining them requires living up to the promise of "fast" food. Speed isn't just a perk; it's an expectation. ✅ They've made some great strides to provide healthier options, which I love to see. But, they need to revive their ultimate unique selling point. So customers can once again again enjoy the experience of fast food. In business, you can't forget what got your customers to love you in the first place. 🥇 --------- P.S - Shout out to Leon, who actually deliver "fast" food, and most of it, is healthy. Does anyone else also hate the long waits at "fast" food?

According to Waitrose & Partners’ recent 2023-24 Food & Drink report, with so much going on their lives and the ongoing cost of living challenges, anxious consumers are simplifying their meal choices, becoming less adventurous and instead choosing familiar dishes they find comforting. With classic dishes like shepherd’s pie, toad in the hole, trifle, along with traditional fish and chips enjoying somewhat of a renaissance, it’s no wonder Zappit's instant cashback campaign with DR. OETKER (UK) LIMITED across the Ristorante Pizza range has been so successful🍕 Zappit's CashbackNow solution, delivering no app-just instant cash is breaking new boundaries and raising more than a few eyebrows in the world of consumer fmcg cashback...so reach out if you fancy a "pizza" the action 😄 #costofliving #mobilecoupons #shoppermarketing #foodinflation #foodflation #cashback #instantcashback #cashbacknow #ristorantepizza #zappit #cashbacknow

Who wants pizza? As Getir and Gorillas are withdrawing from the German market, we couldn’t help but wonder: if the grocery delivery market is dwindling, what about food delivery? In our latest Hype Train, we surveyed 1000 Germans to learn more about their habits, experiences and preferences when it comes to ordering food: 🍕 Italian food is by far the most popular (78 % of respondents), ideally from a restaurant they already know that offers good value for money. 💡 While high delivery costs may have deterred customers from ordering groceries through the likes of Getir and Gorillas, consumers seem less averse to paying extra for faster food delivery: Almost half of respondents are happy to pay more at least occasionally to get their food more quickly! ⏱ Being able to track your order live matters: 30 % of respondents find this rather important, while 26 % of respondents rate live tracking as important and 11 % even consider it essential! Are you curious what else there is to learn about food delivery in Germany? You can access the dashboard here: https://lnkd.in/e7_s3_xB If you’d like to discuss how we can help you collect valuable insights, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. In the meantime, let’s order some pizza, shall we? #Appinio #egrocery #fooddelivery

Especially since the pandemic, Just Eat Takeaway.com (in my country better known as Lieferando) has become a fixture in the lives of millions of people around the world. In 2022 alone, the company processed 984 million orders from 90 million consumers. So it was a pleasure to welcome Lennard Neubauer, Director COO & CCO Strategy & Operations, at Just Eat Takeaway to my #CommerceTalks podcast. Speaking at Seamless Europe in #Berlin, I learned a great deal about the food delivery industry and how it's been evolving. Lennard highlighted the challenges faced by restaurants that choose not to be on these platforms: "It's very hard nowadays for restaurants not to be on aggregators. They just don't get a lot of customers unless they know the restaurant already." We also discussed: . How food delivery has remained unchanged over the years despite the significant shift towards online platforms . Virtual kitchens, dark kitchens, and celebrity chefs that license their brands for them . The exploration of high-income households seeking premium food delivery experiences and the potential for a specialized app there A question for the community – is there any hope for restaurants that aren't on an aggregator? Thanks, Lennard, for the fun and insightful conversation! I wish my hair would look as good as yours. 🔗 Listen to the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/dYEyZvX2 #Ecommerce #SeamlessEU #FoodDelivery

Fast Food Wars Rage On: Rivals Combatting McDonald’s Fast Food Wars As long as the value of the dollar is droppin’, the fast food wars ain’t stoppin’. And all the major players are getting in the ring. So, what are the Big Three burger brands doing to keep us coming back for more? Returning to the methods that got us hooked in the first place… What McDonald’s Does First, The Rest Will Follow… Naturally, the latest battle in the fast food wars kicked off when the Big Mac made its first move. Recently, McDonald’s announced it is bringing back an old-school value meal that costs only $5 — for a limited time. This promotion is a direct response to social media backlash. Consumers — especially on TikTok — have noted Maccie’s charging as much as sit-down restaurants in some locations. However, these cost surges are not just a McDonald’s exclusive issue. Wendy’s also had to backpedal when they attempted to implement dynamic prices. As a consequence, Wendy’s and Burger King are launching their own value meal deals to keep up… Wendy’s will offer a breakfast combo for $3 which includes an egg sandwich and seasoned potatoes. And, BK announced its $5 promotion including a sandwich, chicken nuggets, fries, and a drink. For the most part, these fast food wars seem to benefit us as consumers. That said, why is the competition getting so fierce? What Made the Fast Food Wars So Competitive As we mentioned before, going to a fast food restaurant has become nearly as expensive as its sit-down counterparts. For that reason, consumers that can afford it are choosing the more chic option. In contrast, the higher prices push those with lower incomes out of the option altogether. At the end of the day, the fast food wars are about reclaiming those customers. But, how can the fast food wars continue if they keep lowering prices and operation costs continue to rise? It is as uncertain as when the ice cream machine will be fixed… Until then, be great.
