In honor of Mother's Day, JVM held donation drives throughout May in partnership with five women & children's shelters across the regions we serve. In total, we collected over 2,000 pounds of clothing, shoes, toiletries, and other essential items for individuals and families in need. We continue to be humbled by our teams' and residents' passionate generosity, and are grateful for these opportunities to make a positive impact in our communities. #ContributeToTheCommunity #TheJVMWay #JVMRealty

Who are the forgotten women? Why care about somebody I don't know? It doesn't impact me, so I don't need to bother myself with it..... Let's break the stigma and their silence, stand up, and educate ourselves and those around us. Support those without a voice and those who are too scared, embarrassed, or worried about judgment! 'The Forgotten Women', over 40,000 Queensland women over the age of 55 are homeless. Sadly this figure is due to increase twofold by 2036! With over 700 based in greater Brisbane. That is 700 women who are someone’s aunt, mother, or grandmother, struggling to keep their heads above water, often doing so in silence. I am calling all my LinkedIn friends, family and colleagues, Stand with me and support my team, we are taking on the Live Like Her Challenge 2024 to help more homeless women over 55 into homes. For one night, we will sleep in a car to raise awareness and funds for The Forgotten Women project, an initiative that is close to our hearts. This initiative hits close to home for me. I have seen close friends struggle to find suitable accommodation for their families, especially elderly mothers and grandmothers who have even had to couch surf with only the clothes on their backs and without the medication some need due to having to decide which bill to pay, the house, power or food?? We can never judge one's circumstances, but we can certainly change our thought process and help rather than hinder. For some, homelessness is due to financial strain, domestic violence and, in some situations, families who don't want anything to do with them. In a situation most of us could never imagine, these women often hold their heads high and suffer in silence, but they deserve a warm, safe home. Let's help raise awareness for such a worthy cause. To support us, click “Donate Now” to make a secure online donation as “Everyone deserves to live with dignity and age securely in place”. https://lnkd.in/gNZuyqEJ All donations over $2 are tax-deductible, and you’ll receive an automatic receipt via email. Thank you for your generosity and support. In the great words of Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” 👨👩👧👧 👭 👬 💛 #LLHC2024 #livelikeherchallenge #empowerchange #educateyourself #joinmetomakeachage #homelessness #livelikeherchallange2024 #theforgettenwomen #communityservice #inittogether #fundraise #brisbane #qld #womenmatter #family #beboldbebrave #communityimpact #initiative #breakthesilence #downerutilities
👭 Our #Water team will be participating in the 'Live Like Her Challenge 2024', an initiative to raise awareness and funds for 'The Forgotten Women Project.' ❤️ Alice Austin is leading the Downer effort alongside Caitriona Floyd, Jo Rogers, Emily Auchettl-McHugh, Samantha J. and Aleisha-Marie Billing to help highlight the increasing number of homeless women over 55 facing hardship and sleeping in their cars. 🙏 If you would like to support the team and make a donation towards this worthy cause, please follow the link: https://lnkd.in/gBf4DqH9) #LLH2024 #LiveLikeHerChallenge

What Sarah said :) In all seriousness, this is such a great organization, meeting a very important need in our community. Check out the link below to learn more about what Redwood Park Communities and Furniture Bank are doing, and more importantly, how you can help!
It was truly an honour to meet with Anna from Redwood Park Furniture Bank this morning. Her passion for our community was echoed throughout our conversation in so many different ways with all the amazing initiatives the team has created. They are currently seeing a decrease in furniture donation and an increase in families needing their services, please keep them in mind before you toss that good quality used furniture, they come to you. If you haven’t had a chance to learn more of what they do, take some time to check them out. https://lnkd.in/gnUscFDF #loveyourcommunity #communitymatters #supportlocal RBC #iworkhere

Double the donation - double the impact. From the 11th to 18th of January, EthicalJobs.com.au will generously be doubling any donations made to WAGEC via their website. With the support of our community, we're aiming to raise $9,000 to prevent violence against women and children. Not everyone has a safe home. On average, a woman is killed by an intimate partner every 6 days and one in four women have experienced violence, emotional abuse, or economic abuse by a cohabitating partner. Gender-based violence takes a profound toll on women, children and communities. It impacts all of us. Your donation will create safer futures. Together, we can prevent violence against women and children. You can get involved and double your impact by donating via Chuffed here: https://lnkd.in/gbw5CgNR (Please note that any donations made directly to WAGEC will not be eligible to be doubled.)

Gender-based violence lives in society in various forms. It can look like limiting a woman's self-expression or identity. It can be seemingly minor comments that build up to become emotionally abusive. At Let Her Talk we hear racialized women's stories of emotional abuse, manipulation, gaslighting, and more all the time. These are stories that don't get taken seriously because the harm is hidden. It builds up and affects women's self identity and progression toward a successful, fulfilling life. That's why we create space for women and girls to express themselves and refuse silence. We want to let her talk it out and refuse to be treated in abusive ways.
Together, we can end gender-based violence. Between now and December 31st, GreenShield Cares will match every dollar you donate to help women and gender-diverse people rebuild their lives after experiencing violence. That means your gift will have double the impact! Make a donation today >> https://bit.ly/3tf8YRL #EndGBV

How we’ve been supporting our community instead of monetary donations… Up until the end of 2022 we donated all of our drop-in fees to local charities to support community initiatives, and we’re proud of how much we donated over the years. In 2023 we shifted to donating our time and services instead, something that brings confidence, physical strength and resiliency to the communities we serve. In 2023 we provided 38 private personal training sessions to Safe Hope Home. This supports their objective to provide long-term programs, designed to guide sexually exploited or trafficked women, or those at identifiable risk of becoming sexually exploited/trafficked into full rehabilitation and reintegration into society. This process includes housing, post-secondary education, counselling and more. We’re happy to be continuing to support these women directly with more weekly personal training in 2024. Helping to build stronger women, mind, body and soul is in our hearts and being able to provide this to victims of human trafficking brings us feelings of true charitable work that we’re proud of. While the cost of living drastically rises, many that once donated monetary gifts may not be able to continue, this post is not only to raise awareness of SafeHope Home but also the ability to donate your time or services. Our community is stronger and better for all when we stand together to support one another. #communitysupport #humantraffickingawareness #smallbusinessresponsibility
