Part of #EnablingCommunitiestoThrive includes working together to keep our communities safe. It was a privilege to work with NSW Police Force on the new Parramatta Police Station in Western Sydney and attend its opening last month. Our team played a significant role in the coordination and construction management of the project, overseeing the complex and multifaceted process from inception to completion. 🌟 State-of-the-art elements of the new station include: - Improved audiovisual capabilities for custody, victims/witnesses and legal access; - Specialist support rooms for victims of sexual violence; - Electric vehicle charging stations and solar roof panels; - Improved gymnasium and staff facilities; - Sections for crime investigation, crime prevention, taskforces, prosecutors and highway patrol. The new purpose-built facility more effectively meets the local force’s contemporary operational needs, enhancing their ability to serve the local community 🧑🤝🧑! 👏 Congratulations to our Downer Utilities Water Serviceperson, Kemble Slotemaker, who won the Water Trainee of the Year Award at the Water New Zealand Conference & Expo - Downer Gala Dinner last night. 🏆 Kemble entered the Water industry in 2019, starting as a temp with Downer on a restrictor clean and inspection contract. Since then, Kemble has become an integral member of Downer’s Routine Maintenance & Asset Management team in Nelson. She completed a two-year Water Apprenticeship through Connexis in 2022 and quickly fell in love with working in the Water industry because of the mobile aspect of the job. She is currently studying towards an NZQA New Zealand Certificate in Drinking Water Treatment with an optional strand in Multistage Processing. Kemble is a mother of three children who she says are her driving force. She wants to lead by example and show them that they are capable of anything if they work hard and take pride in their work. 👨👩👦 👏 Well done Kemble! 👏 #Water #Awards #TheDifferenceIsDowner #EnablingCommunitiesToThrive #WaterNZ #Careers

ASEAN partners come together at InnoTrans 🚄 Downer and Hartasuma, both leading rail and transit system providers in their respective countries, came together at InnoTrans to sign a Strategic Association Agreement. The agreement brings us together to seek opportunities for decarbonisation service offerings, engineering innovations and digital solutions, as well as share Downer’s learnings to increase female participation in rail in Malaysia. By coming together at InnoTrans, the agreement signifies on a global stage the importance of ASEAN companies working together to support the global rail industry and the commitment made to supporting the southeast Asia region in relation to rollingstock. Alongside representatives from both companies, the agreement was signed with the Malaysian Government and the Australian rail industry in attendance including Caroline Wilkie, CEO Australasian Railway Association (ARA) and Jacqui Walters, National Rail Manufacturing Advocate. Innovating Rollingstock Asset Management. That’s also the Downer Difference. Starting off Day 2 of InnoTrans with a bang, thanks to Mark Baxter and Usman Pervaiz talking about Downer’s leading asset management capabilities. It was a great session, with Mark taking us back to the late 90s reminding us all how far the rail industry has come with asset management and digital capability. For Downer, we identified with Australia’s largest passenger fleet – the Waratah trains – the need to ensure we had remote condition monitoring and the ability to take data off the trains and turn it into asset management knowledge. With that, our team of world-class engineers invented TrainDNA which is a corner stone of our asset management capabilities and something that we provide globally through RTS Digital. Mark also spoke about our 250+ engineers who don’t just talk the talk, but walk the walk. Our engineers live and breathe rollingstock and find solutions every day for Australia’s leading rail and transit systems provider including inventing the world’s first autonomous cleaning robot for rollingstock. Through our Engineering Consulting Services business these engineers can support global industry. We couldn’t miss the opportunity to also discuss our decarbonisation journey, including the recent announcement that Downer and Fortescue Zero will jointly design and develop the world’s most energy efficient battery electric locomotive.
