In our Tonga Schools project we ask primary school staff how they are entering into relation with the parents who do not speak the school language: -       How do they communicate with those parents? -       What are the difficulties and the challenges that they experience in their work with parents?   Some of the schools are already using a school app to communicate with parents, which has a translation option for different languages. But is it enough to bridge the communication?   Dear teachers, social workers, school officers: What are your experiences with those apps and the translation provided? What other ways and resources does your school use to better reach parents? Do you provide translators or intercultural mediators?   We appreciate your experiences! English is often considered the language of opportunity, but it's important to remember that it's just a language, not a measure of #intelligence. The idea that someone's intelligence can be judged based on their #English proficiency is a harmful stereotype that neglects the diversity of languages and cultures around #Africa. #Language is a tool, not a reflection of cognitive ability. People who speak multiple languages, including English, are not inherently more intelligent than those who speak only one language. In fact, research has shown that bilingual individuals have a greater density of gray matter in the brain, indicating a greater ability to adapt and learn. It's time to move beyond the idea that English is the ultimate measure of intelligence. Instead, we should focus on recognizing and valuing the unique cognitive abilities and strengths that each individual brings to the table, regardless of the language they speak. How a Classroom Debate on English Varieties in Nigeria Ignited My Public Speaking Journey and Inspired the Birth of EpicQuill Publishing In 2020, during my undergraduate days at Adeyemi College of Education—now Federal College of Education, Ondo—I had a defining moment in one of our interactive multilingualism classes. Is Swahili Africa's new common language? Swahili is an African bantu language, which has been mixed with the arabic of  traders and settlers who came to East Africa in the early times. Swahili was originally the language of the coast, before it spread over most of East and Central Africa. It is now said to be one of the ten great languages of the world. Some African countries, including South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and others, have already decided to introduce Swahili language in their education system from primary school. The Swahili language is spoken throughout East Africa  and in the East  of Congo DRC, Burundi and Rwanda.  As Swahili is working language in the African Union (AU), East African Community (EAC) and Southern Africa Develop- ment Community (SADC), there have been ongo- ing initiatives to make it the lingua franca for the whole African continent.
