Friendly reminder we meet TOMORROW 1/23 to review all of the submissions! If you are interested in participating in the public review process, please email Kady@DTJax.org to RSVP for the 3-5PM convening at @dtjax Next steps: 1) Jan 2024: DVI’s Placemaking & Events Dept. screened the 106 applications & removed infrastructure ideas to create a new finalists pile based on what’s possible and what we can actually do on time, within budget (while digging canals, building schools, and adding a zip line across the St. John’s river is brilliant, we couldn’t possibly do it for $5,000) 2) Jan 23rd: Convene the taskforce over two hours to give public feedback on applications 3) End of Jan/First week of Feb: Screen narrowed down taskforce list with DVI leadership to review and align with our mission to support the Business Improvement District (BID) 4) Feb 2024: Take final list of DVI/taskforce reviewed applications and meet with partners for final thoughts/guidance 5) Duval Rouge Gala February 23rd: Choose the combination of 2024 projects & announce (buy you tickets now we will sell out www.DTJax.com/gala 🧠🩷

From the windows to the walls- let’s talk about HVAC installs 😉😅 I almost don’t even want to talk about it cause I’m SO UPSET I’m missing this conference - not only because it’s out on by my awesome team at PHnw - Passive House Northwest but also because of the theme!! If you work with building - high performance or not- HVAC needs to be brought in early. Let’s face it folks, we are at a point where it cannot be an afterthought and should be brought in early in the game for comfort and performance optimization (oh right and it probably wouldn’t hurt aesthetics either- good bye awkward last min soffits and teeny tiny last min mech closets). Come check out our HVAC Summit mini conference to learn a bit more about the WHYs. (Pssst: just because it’s “for passive buildings” doesn’t mean ONLY for passive building. This can be brought in all kinds of building and SHOULD). Just cause I won’t see you there, doesn’t mean I won’t know you didn’t go 😉

Strategic Leader in Construction & Skills Development | Founder & Chair at Offsite Alliance | Non Exec Director at Lundell | Board Member at ReThink Construction
Have you ever felt left out of a conversation? Like the important decisions were being made behind closed doors, and your voice wasn’t being heard? I know that feeling—and it’s something we need to change. That’s why, at Offsite Expo, we’re doing things differently. Our Roundtables are happening right on the show floor, with open mics so everyone can listen in. It’s not about exclusivity or gatekeeping; it’s about creating space for real conversations—out in the open. I believe in the power of communication, in breaking down barriers, and inviting everyone to have their say. It’s how we innovate, grow, and make meaningful change. This is about creating an industry where every voice matters, whether you’ve been here for years or are just starting out. Let’s make communication a two-way street. Let’s open up the dialogue and start listening to the voices that have been waiting to be heard. Join us at Offsite Expo and be part of the conversation. Let’s inspire each other.
