Plenty of QA hiring managers still get so caught up on years of experience as the main metric for a testers ability to do a job. In plenty of cases it's just a yes/no scenario - if you don't have X years of experience you're not right for this role, without considering what else they can bring to the party. It's worth using it as a guide, but the last thing you want to do is look past someone who can do the job, just because they're "not experienced enough" on paper. Other things to consider; problem solving and analytical abilities project and industry experience soft skills & team fit #Copied

In today's software-driven world, a talented Software QA Engineer (QA) is a vital asset. But with a vast pool of candidates, how do you ensure you select the one who will seamlessly integrate into your team and elevate your product? Here are some key factors to consider for selecting a top-notch QA Engineer: Technical Expertise: Assess their knowledge of testing methodologies (functional, non-functional, automation) and experience with relevant tools (Bug tracking, Test Management, TestCase writing, Regression case selection, Risk Identification etc.). Look for candidates with experience in similar projects or technologies as your own. Problem-solving Prowess: A great QA Engineer isn't just a bug finder; they're a detective who identifies the root cause and suggests solutions. Evaluate their analytical skills and ability to think critically during the interview process. Communication is Key: Effective communication bridges the gap between technical and non-technical teams. Look for candidates who can clearly document issues, collaborate with developers, and explain complex matters to stakeholders. Teamwork Makes the Dream Work: Does the candidate value collaboration and possess a positive team spirit? A strong QA Engineer understands their role within the development cycle and thrives in a collaborative environment. #softwareqa #TestingGyan #SoftwareQAMatters #SelectingQA #QAHiring

Passionate QA Test Engineer | Streaming Services Enthusiast 📺 | Advocate for Green Technology | Software and Hardware testing
My previous post went viral, gathering a lot of reactions and comments. Some of the feedback made me realize that many people might not fully understand how varied the role of a QA Test Engineer can be, and how different processes can be across companies. For example, at hierarchically structured companies, it’s often challenging to implement changes to existing processes. In contrast, companies with flat organizational structures might offer more flexibility and freedom for QA (and other) professionals. Additionally, job titles might be the same, but responsibilities and tasks can differ significantly. There are so many different roles and directions within the QA field, and these roles might not always be present in every team or even exist in some companies. The variety depends largely on the company and the product you are working on. The diversity in roles and responsibilities is what makes being a QA Test Engineer so fascinating to me. #WomenInTech #QA #QualityAssurance #WomenInQA

In a last week itself, I got a lot of queries on LinkedIn How to switch career from Manual to Automation ? Trust me, this is happening. Most of the questions are as a manual QA we are not getting Interview calls from companies. I will tell you one of my colleagues story She got a call from HR for the opening of QA Engineer. They told her to complete coding assignment. She did it but still she got rejected. Why? They give her the reason your approach is not optimised. But the problem is she is going to do work of Manual Tasks. Then why she is a good coder. The reason is the competition because now a days Automation Engineer are doing both Manual and Automation. So the company expectation is very clear. They don’t want only Manual if they get good candidates rather than manual. In my opinion, Manual QA should also move towards Automation side either it is basic or advanced. It helps to land a good job in MNCs as well as startup’s If we talk about QA jobs, BluSmart and Kuku FM have openings of QA Go through their job portal. I recently saw the openings of QA. 🌟 Tips for Interviewers in the Software Industry (Especially for SQA Positions) 🌟 As an interviewer, it's crucial to focus on what truly matters. Here are some tips to enhance your hiring process: 📚 **Avoid asking for basic, bookish definitions.** Instead, engage candidates in discussions that reveal their understanding and practical knowledge. 🧠 **Assess the candidate's logical and analytical thinking skills.** These are essential for problem-solving and critical in any SQA role. 💻 **When hiring for a QA Automation position, focus on basic programming knowledge and logical thinking skills.** There's no need to ask for live code writing. Even senior engineers often look up syntax from internet. Anyone with a strong foundation in programming and problem-solving can quickly learn new frameworks and tools. 🔍 **For Manual QA positions, prioritize evaluating their debugging and problem-solving abilities.** These skills are vital for identifying and resolving issues efficiently. By concentrating on these aspects, you'll find candidates who are not only technically proficient but also capable of thinking critically and solving problems effectively. #InterviewTips #SQA #Hiring #QAAutomation #ManualQA #ProblemSolving #LogicalThinking #TechRecruitment

Has anyone else noticed that a lot of entire QA teams have been made redundant/ let go over the last year or so? Me and Jules Ludlow noticed this a while back and don't understand it. Does anyone know why this might be? 🤔 It seems strange - QA is a very important, if not the most important, part of the development lifecycle, and especially in certain industries where poor QA and QC could cost more than just money, but lives 😱 #recruitment #hiring #redundancies #tech #QA #QC #rebelrecruiters
