Plenty of QA hiring managers still get so caught up on years of experience as the main metric for a testers ability to do a job. In plenty of cases it's just a yes/no scenario - if you don't have X years of experience you're not right for this role, without considering what else they can bring to the party. It's worth using it as a guide, but the last thing you want to do is look past someone who can do the job, just because they're "not experienced enough" on paper.
