Cambridge Business Online Centre, led by our Director Rafmary Baker, is delighted to announce that we have won a national innovation award, sponsored by Innovate UK, part of the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). Cambridge Business Online Centre is an educational enterprise taking on the challenge of bringing future skills for all. Among its programmes, one is specifically aimed at enhancing the skills of young people who are demotivated by the traditional education system. This award-winning project is titled "Mind the Skills Gap: Lead. Innovate. Excel", and it will deliver Future Skills Bootcamps lasting 10 weeks each. These have been designed to support young people aged 16 to 24 who find themselves at a vital crossroads, whether facing challenges with formal education, feeling uncertain about what to do next, at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Employment, Education, or Training), or unemployed. 📰 EBN Welcomes the Commission’s Funding for Regional Innovation Valleys, with 55+ EU|BICs Present We are excited to hear about the European Commission’s funding of €116 million for the Regional Innovation Valleys (RIVs) initiative, which aims to bolster competitiveness and foster innovation across the EU. In partnership with the EC, EBN actively promoted the call for RIVs among its members. This week the European Commission announced that 151 regions have been granted the RIV title, including over 55 regions with EU|BIC presence. This milestone was revealed on 19 June 2024 by Commissioners Iliana Ivanova and Elisa Ferreira during the European Committee of the Regions plenary session. As a network representing 175+ EU|BIC members in over 33 countries in Europe and beyond, EBN looks forward to the significant contributions our members will make to continuously grow their regional innovation capacities. By fostering innovation literacy, facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration, and promoting sustainable economic development, EBN and its members are dedicated to ensuring the success of the RIVs and the broader New European Innovation Agenda. 👉 For more details, read the full announcement.
