Recently, there's an endless debate over the news in regards to "UiTM students protesting over their university's decision to take Non-Bumi students in" having said majority of the students there are Bumi students. Now, first of all as a Malaysian myself, I'm born here and raised here, I have my Blue IC. The debate of Bumi or Non-Bumi has been pretty unnecessary because we are Malaysian. I don't think I'm in either category and I love my peers who grew up with me in Sekolah Kebangsaan and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan. And do you know they don't differentiate race like this as far as I knew them, if yes, it's only the minority. Education should be fairly distributed to Malaysian students if they are interested in getting one but who knows some may not have good financial support from the family? So, did we just miss out a good talent in the community when this protest has to go on and on? We are lacking of talents in Malaysia already, we need to change the mindset before things deteriorate further. #educationshouldbefair #malaysian #livelonglearning

Earlier this week, I represented Remisi in a public discussion titled "MEMBONGKAR 15 HARI MASAย KAMPANYE: ADU GAGASAN ATAU LUCU-LUCUAN?" held by Sindikasi Pemilu & Demokrasi. It was interesting to address many issues regarding the current Indonesian electoral campaign, such as mental health, disability, education, environment, etc. The full discussion can be accessed here https://lnkd.in/grn6nFjQ

Ajak Gerak x Bijak Memilih: Youth's Role in Education and Politics I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to this collaborative content. It has been a privilege to partake in the creation process of this meaningful collaboration between Ajak Gerak and Bijak Memilih. As we embarked on this journey together, exploring the vital intersection of youth, education, and politics, I found myself deeply engaged in the dialogue surrounding these crucial topics. In a recent collaboration between Ajak Gerak and Bijak Memilih, the focus shifted towards elucidating the pivotal role of youth in shaping the realms of education and politics. As I delved into the creation process of this Instagram content, it became apparent that a significant portion of first-time voters, particularly students, harbor a less favorable view towards politics. Understandably, this often leads to apathy towards political engagement. However, a crucial realization emerges โ the very educational facilities enjoyed today are the direct result of supportive policies, inherently intertwined with the political process. The content shed light on the intricate relationship between education and politics, prompting viewers to contemplate the mechanisms governing their educational experiences. Questions arose regarding curriculum alignment with individual interests and talents, the quality of educators, and the accessibility of educational infrastructure. By highlighting these concerns, the collaboration aimed to foster a deeper understanding among young individuals regarding the impact of political decisions on their educational journeys. The narrative within the content underscored the proximity of politics to everyday life and its profound influence on personal futures. It urged viewers to consider the ramifications of decisions made by those in positions of power, emphasizing the importance of active participation in shaping one's future. Ultimately, the collaboration served as a catalyst for critical introspection, challenging viewers to envision the type of future they aspire to create amidst the intersecting realms of education and politics. Together, let's actively contribute to the betterment of education in Indonesia by participating in the political process and refusing to be indifferent. Our engagement can make a significant difference in shaping the future of education for generations to come.
AjakGerak on Instagram: "โbahas politik mulu, bodo amat dah, gw belajar aja terusโ eitss sebelom lebih jauh, perlu disadari pilihan yang kalian ambil ngaruh buat masa depan pendidikan kalian dan temen2 kalian. emang si terasa ngebosenin, tapi bukankah waktu milih jurusan kuliah kalian perlu pertimbangan mendalam? apalagi ini, milih pemimpin bangsa. #bijakmemilih #pendidikanbangsa"

A nation is great not by its size alone. It is the will, the cohesion, the stamina, the discipline of its people and the quality of their leaders which ensure it an honourable place in history. ~ Kuan Yew LEE, The Wit and Wisdom of Lee Kuan Yew When asked if leadership is a constant battle, Lee had this to say: "In a multiracial situation like this, it is. "Malaysia took the different line; Malaysians saw it as a Malay country, all others are lodgers, 'orang tumpangan', and they the Bumiputras, sons of the soil, run the show. So the Sultans, the Chief Justice and judges, generals, police commissioner, the whole hierarchy is Malay. All the big contracts for Malays. Malay is the language of the schools, although it does not get them into modern knowledge. So the Chinese build and find their own independent schools to teach Chinese, the Tamils create their own Tamil schools, which do not get them jobs. It's the most unhappy situation." Relations between Mฤori and the Crown have a long and contested history, and one whose relevance is only gaining in importance today. History of te Tiriti, difficulties around its translation and interpretation, and insight into how "Treaty principles" came about and continue to be used today. At UK in New Zealand we were lucky to have the brilliant Prof Peter Adds as our guide over two days of learning on this essential kaupapa. Highly recommend the course through Kฤpuhipuhi Wellington Uni-Professional - engaging, motivating, relevant.

On Waitangi Day, we at WILNZ would like to affirm our support of Te Tiriti, NZ's founding document. We believe in equitable outcomes for all students completing work-integrated learning, and the principles established through years of discussion and review on this historical document support these outcomes. As with many businesses and organisations, we know that this is an area where there is still plenty of room for growth, and a place where indigenous voices should be amplified. If you are providing work-integrated learning education, opportunities, or completing research in this space we would love to hear from you. Doctor vs. First Name On the contrary, it has practically nothing to do with discipline nor gender. The intellectual culture of a country tends to dictate how title-based propriety is supposed to go. Take for instance Thailand and if I'm not mistaken Malaysia and Vietnam also --- academic professionals are expected to be addressed using all the titles they have earned. I learned this little detail the first time I did hosting for ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance thingamajig back in my FEU days. #GraduateStudies #AcademicTitles #GenderDisparity #Bias #Academe #HigherEd

What if you could win a free trip to Bali? Including flight tickets and accommodation. Well it's actually possible, but only if you are learning Indonesian as a foreign language. The Indonesian government launched this competition and I guess the reason is to increase the amount of Indonesian speakers around the world. The requirements to participate are the following: 1. Foreign nationals only 2. Ability to speak Indonesian 3. Adult age according to your country (so I guess 18-21) 4. Active email address 5. Never won the competition before 6. Willing to come to Indonesia to participate in the final There are 7 different categories where you can participate: 1. Speech 2. Story 3. Singing 4. Poetry 5. Create your own Pantun poem 6. Reportage 7. Letter You can see the details in the link. Like in the case of singing there's a list of Indonesian songs that you can choose and the story category has Indonesian folklore so you can't just invent anything in those categories. They will pick a maximum of 105 people to the final. I understood that it might not be that much but that's the maximum. So that would be around 15 per category. The videos of the work can be submitted between May 28 and 30. The results of the finalists are announced on June 11th. The final is on August 25-31. The 3 best works will be awarded in the final. I will participate in this competition myself and see how it goes. I've studied Indonesian now around 3-4 years. Sometimes more actively and sometimes I've had lazy periods. I've already created my Pantun poem. Now I just have to record and edit the video and submit it during the submission time. https://lnkd.in/duPgUsd4
