#Climbing seems fundamental in infancy; not so much in adulthood. Learning to climb is something we learn as an infant with nobody teaching us. But as adults; somehow this basic ability seems forgotten when we attempt to climb up in our work. The infant that can barely talk is able to comprehend the steps as one of the first challenges that it needs to #overcome. Every child attempts this #challenge with glee and never backs out even if it falls down a hundred times. Literally, won't stop till it has mastered it. And how does it do it? The mechanics of it? It does so by extending one arm to reach out to the top, pulling itself up, while at the same time lifting its bottom foot off the lower step. It is able to achieve this with the help of the stability and thrust that the other arm and the other foot could provide. Quite complex, but every infant learns this move with no teacher and without quite fully comprehending how it is doing it. All of us get our fair share of opportunities and challenges in our career. But when presented with a challenge or given an opportunity, are we willing to #ReachUp and take up new challenges and new things? And most importantly are we willing to take our #FootOff the things we used to do? Things that sometimes put us in a #ComfortZone that we wouldn't want to get out of. Here's what reinvention has been for me: The journey out of my self-imposed prison cells. For me, those prison cells were and presently are: • Fear • Shame • Self-loathing • Unworthiness • Never feeling enough • It's not available to me • Never feeling comfortable in my own skin • Fear of being seen and heard for who I am I say "presently are" because these cells have levels, and the more I expand my life now, the more the ghosts of the past appear. What I'm learning is this: I don't have it all figured out. If, for some reason, I ever say that in the future, it's time to stop reading my shit. Reinvention is an ongoing journey with no clear end, and I'm okay with that. Each new iteration of myself opens up a new world, and new possibilities and opportunities abound within that new world. The more I explore my imprisoning beliefs and walk out of them, the more of my potential I fulfill. The more of my potential I fulfill, the more I can create, and the more I can create, the more joy, purpose, meaning, and fulfillment I experience. Perhaps the most significant lesson is this: The things we hide from and run from, our perceived weaknesses and obstacles, are our most significant sources of strength, power, and purpose. Because when we question what we believe about ourselves and see that what we thought was true is a lie, we can create our extraordinary lives.
