Sunday Morning Bathroom Read: United Health recently implemented its new prior authorization policy effective July 1, 2024. Sample SAT Question: Which of the following accurately reflect the sentiments of physicians across the US: A) “At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.” (Billy Madison); B) "What did he just say? It is genuine frontier gibberish. Nobody understands what he says." (Blazing Saddles); C) "WTF?" D) All of the above.

It is such a sad day when the entities originally established to improve patient access to healthcare are doing all they can to prevent it with one intention—to line their own pockets further! I am hopeful that laws like SB2140, which is awaiting the governor’s signature in MS (https://billstatus.ls.state.ms.us/documents/2024/pdf/SB/2100-2199/SB2140SG.pdf) and requires an electronic prior authorization process, will be passed in other states soon making this requirement unlawfully across the country! It’s completely absurd that any business would suggest this in 2024!

United Healthcare should get out of the paying and processing healthcare claims business and get into standup comedy, as their operational policies and handling of cybersecurity threats are laughable.

Well it's a moot point right now anyway. With their online claims server hacked and messed up nobody's going to know what's going to need prior authorization anyway. UH finally has no claims to pay, they win! 😎

Triplicate, mail????? What year it’s it? Prior authorizations already take far too long. Snail mail is not going to help. Robin Cook should have written this story.
