Diving headfirst at Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp). 🌈 60 days thus far - Purpose: Believe | Know | Love! 🚀 During this period, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with a #ForwardThinking leadership team dedicated to transforming Malaysia’s talent ecosystem. Our focus has been on creating robust strategies and implementing effective frameworks that touch all talent segments, ensuring that we tackle the complexities of the talent landscape and addressing the diverse needs of our workforce. Some of the significant initiatives that #TalentCorp has implemented in 2024: 1. #WanitaMyWIRA: This initiative is a comprehensive strategy aimed at reducing gender disparity in the workforce by empowering women and coordinating all women-centric programs under the purview of TalentCorp. 2. Program Kesinambungan Kerjaya #VeteranMyWIRA: A strategic collaboration between the Ministry of Human Resources (MOHR) and the Ministry of Defence Malaysia, this initiative facilitates career progression for veterans. 3. Strategic Think Tank for KESUMA: TalentCorp has been mandated to be the strategic think tank for MOHR (KESUMA). The first project under this role is an impact study on the influence of artificial intelligence, digitalization, and the green economy on Malaysia’s workforce and employment landscape. 4. Future Skills Talent Council (FSTC): #FSTC is an industry-led initiative ensuring that Malaysian talents are equipped with the skills necessary for future jobs. The pilot sector is the E&E sector, where industry leaders collaborate to identify evolving skill requirements and drive necessary skills programmes. 5. #LiKES (Internship Placement Matching Grant for SMEs and Start-Ups): This initiative provides financial aid to SMEs and start-ups in Malaysia, encouraging them to foster local talent through meaningful, structured, and paid internships. 6. #MyNEXT reengineering and rebranding: Engaged with 30 Subject Matter Experts, explored partnerships with 8 Learning Content Providers to enrich our LMS platform. Forged relationships with 2 Private Universities to enhance GE and research. Collaborated with 4 NGOs to drive social impact. Curating 18 Webinars with industry leaders in AI, Sustainability, Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation, HR, Digitalization, and Education - ensuring a comprehensive skill imparting, learning experience. 7. Engagement with #ASEAN Universities: In an upcoming initiative, we are set to collaborate with the Asean Accounting Educators Workgroup to facilitate inbound and outbound student and faculty mobility programmes for #SETARA #QS These initiatives reflect TalentCorp’s commitment to attracting, nurturing, and retaining talents, addressing workforce challenges, and ensuring Malaysia remains a dynamic talent hub. 🌟👩💼🚀 Love the quote! 🚀 ! 🚀 Thomas Mathew Nazr l Aziz Sua

Thrilled to share my learnings from the recent USKILL sessions hosted by Unilever Sri Lanka! These webinars were incredibly insightful and provided me with valuable knowledge on various aspects of career development. Here are my top three takeaways: Funtional 101_Human Resource and Finance: This session, led by Hiruni Perera and Timali Dias, was an eye-opener for me. Before attending, I had little understanding of how human resources function within an organization or their importance. The webinar provided a thorough breakdown, and I now appreciate how HR and financial strategies align to drive success. This new perspective has given me a better understanding of the vital role HR plays in organizational health. Career Launchpad: As a second-year undergraduate, stepping into the professional world can feel overwhelming. This webinar, presented by Kisali Mukadange and Tahanee Harris, was a lifeline. It highlighted the key qualifications and skills we need to develop to fit into the job world. Thanks to the USkill sessions, I now have a clear roadmap for what I need to focus on to secure a great job in the future. Funtional 101_Supply Chain and Sales: This session, conducted by Samitha Abeyrathne and Yeshani Nanayakkara, gave me a behind-the-scenes look at how Unilever operates as a multi-brand organization. Learning about the intricacies of supply chain management and sales strategies was fascinating. I now have a better understanding of how products move from concept to consumer. This insight is incredibly valuable, especially as I study Maritime Transportation Management and Logistics. A huge thank you to Shazna Shamil, who coordinated these sessions and ensured everything ran smoothly. Your insights have given me a clearer picture of how modern organizations work and the skills needed to thrive. As an undergraduate, seeing how my academic knowledge applies in the real world has been both motivating and enlightening. 🔙 Reflecting on the past! 🕰️ Sharing a cherished memory of my Orientation Induction Program back on Sep 19, 2009, organized by the HR department at UPES 🎓 This snapshot captures not just a moment, but the beginning of a journey filled with learning, growth, and memories. Orientation Induction Programs hold immense significance for both organizations and employees. For organizations, it's the foundation of cultivating a cohesive and productive workforce. It sets the tone, instills values, and familiarizes employees with the company culture, policies, and goals. It's where bonds are formed and a sense of belonging is nurtured. For employees, it's the gateway to a successful tenure. It provides insights into the organization's mission, vision, and expectations, helping individuals align their efforts towards collective objectives. Moreover, it fosters connections with colleagues, mentors, and leaders, paving the way for collaboration and career advancement. Looking at this photo, I can't help but reminisce about the incredible journey many of us have embarked on since then. 🚀 Some have reached new heights in their careers, few sadly departed for heavenly abodes. Induction periods over... now what? Here's how to support grads + apprentices year-round: 👉  Set their managers up for success. A young person's first manager WILL make or break their experience! If you aren't investing in your line managers, that's a problem. If your line managers aren't invested in learning, that's also a problem!! 👉 Check in with them asap! The first six weeks to six months are crucial. If they aren't feeling supported, you need to know about it asap. Open-door support sessions are great as often they won't feel confident enough to just book in time with you. 👉 Evaluate the training you're offering and its relevance in 2024 Training sessions from outdated L&D teams or suppliers won't do much Learning at regular intervals with in-depth opportunities to practice and delivered by people they can relate to are key. They'll also have forgotten 90% of what they learnt at induction so what will you revisit What would you add? ----------------------------------- 🌟 Hi, I'm Shoshanna. Are you recruiting volunteers and or trainees? ================================ Avoid placing them in departments with backlogs; instead, position them where you foresee potential growth. While they contribute to your organization, focus on positively impacting their development. Assign them to senior staff for coaching, not those who merely give orders. Involve them in the onboarding process, treat them professionally, and grant access to information. Offer real opportunities, as they are there to support your processes while learning. Keep in mind, the primary goal is learning not helping you.
