Today is World Bee Day 🐝 🐝 🐝 There are 20,000 species of bees in the world. Wild bees are much less known, studied and protected than their cousin Apis mellifera, the honey bee, which is closely monitored because it is exploited and an entire economy depends on its health. Yet, almost 75% of all cultivated species in the world depends on pollinators. But bee populations are declining due to pesticides, habitat destruction, climate change, and parasites introduced by humans. To protect them, intensive agriculture must be replaced with environmentally-friendly models. Take the quizz to learn more: https://lnkd.in/eGPmUaNn

This quote underscores the critical importance of bees and other pollinators to the global ecosystem and human survival. It highlights the interconnectedness of all living organisms and the dependence of human civilization on the vital role played by bees in pollination. 🐝 Bees are essential pollinators responsible for fertilizing a significant portion of the world's crops, including many fruits, vegetables, and nuts. Without bees, these plants would be unable to reproduce, leading to a dramatic decline in food production and biodiversity. The disappearance of bees would not only threaten agriculture but also disrupt entire ecosystems, affecting plant and animal populations worldwide. Ultimately, this quote serves as a poignant reminder, especially in light of #WorldBeeDay tomorrow, of the profound impact that bees have on the health of our planet and the precarious balance of the natural world. It emphasises the urgent need to protect and preserve bee populations and their habitats to ensure the continued existence of life as we know it. 🐝🌍 #ProtectTheBees #Honey #Biodiversity

Buzzpocalypse: Saving Bees, Securing Our Sustenance Global bee populations are declining, posing serious threats to pollination and food security. Albert Einstein once remarked, "If the bee disappeared off the face of the Earth, man would only have four years left to live," underscoring the crucial role of bees in our ecosystems. Studies show a 30% decrease in bee populations in Europe and North America since 2007, with some regions of China experiencing a staggering 90% loss. People in China, deprived of bees, are forced to pollinate fruit trees by hand, using small brushes or even pollinating each flower manually. However, these methods are extremely inefficient. Bees pollinate about 75% of the world's crops, valued at over $15 billion annually in the United States alone. Urgent action is needed to protect bee habitats, reduce pesticide use, and support sustainable agriculture. Organizations like #Beezark , the Pollinator Partnership and the Xerces Society lead efforts to address this crisis. Together, we must prioritize bee conservation to ensure our food supply and ecosystem health. 🐝🌼 #SaveTheBees #PollinationCrisis

Day 17- The Importance of Bees: Tiny Pollinators with a Big Impact 🐝🌸 Bees play a crucial role in our ecosystem as key pollinators. Approximately one-third of the food we consume relies on pollination by bees, including fruits, vegetables, and nuts. Without these industrious insects, our food supply and biodiversity would suffer tremendously. Bees facilitate the reproduction of flowering plants by transferring pollen from one flower to another, enabling plants to produce seeds and fruits. This process not only supports the growth of crops but also helps maintain the health of natural ecosystems. However, bee populations are declining due to factors like habitat loss, pesticide use, and climate change. By creating bee-friendly environments, such as planting native flowers and avoiding harmful pesticides, we can help protect these vital pollinators. Next time you see a bee buzzing around, remember its critical role in sustaining life on Earth. #SaveTheBees #Pollinators #Ecosystem #Linkedin #Science #knowledge 🌼🌿🍯

Bee-lieve in yourself and you can accomplish anything Today, on August 17th, we celebrate National Honey Bee Day, honoring the vital role of honey bees in our ecosystem. Bees are crucial pollinators for one-third of our food supply, highlighting the significance of their efforts in agriculture. Beekeeping, or apiculture, is both a profession and a passion, with beekeepers playing a key role in maintaining bee populations and supporting global agriculture. However, honey bees face challenges such as habitat loss, pesticides, diseases, and climate change, including the threat of Colony Collapse Disorder. National Honey Bee Day raises awareness about these challenges and encourages actions like planting bee-friendly gardens, reducing pesticide use, and supporting local beekeepers. Let's appreciate these winged insects for their vital role in pollination and honey production, supporting over 20,000 bee species for a sustainable future. #NationalHoneyBeeDay #SaveTheBees 🐝

🌍🐝No bees, no food, no life- it's as simple as that🐝🌍 ☕ 🍎 You could say that we're a little biased on the importance of bees (we are named after the Great Yellow bumble bee after all), but they are critical for human life. Pollinators, including bees, are vital for the reproduction of over 75% of food crops and flowering plants, including coffee, rapeseed, and most fruits. Yet, these essential pollinators are visibly diminishing worldwide, and the full consequences for human populations remain uncertain. 💲 A major 2016 report highlighted up to a 300% increase in pollinator-dependent food production over the past 50 years, with an annual market value possibly reaching $577 billion. 🐝 Human life, and human-built economies are therefore reliant on our pollinating friends. Without bees, life as we know it wouldn't be possible. #WorldBeeDay #SaveTheBees #GreatYellow #ClimateAction #Biodiversity #Pollinators #EnvironmentalProtection #Bees #Nature 📖 Learn more about the importance of pollinators via University of Cambridge : https://lnkd.in/e7QeTv_C

What is soil health? Soil health is the cumulative health of the living organisms in soil such as plants, animals and microorganisms, because only living organisms can have health issues. Soil health cannot be tested in the laboratory by analysing dead soil samples. Soil health can only be determined in situ by observing Indicator plants, earthworms (indicator animals) and mushrooms (indicator microorganisms). How to improve soil health? 1. No till: Stop disturbing the soil. 2. No off-farm input: Don't apply chemical fertilisers, herbicides, pesticides or plastics in soil. 3. Mulching: Keep the soil surface always covered with dry leaves or other organic matter. 4. Cover cropping: Keep the soil surface always covered with green plants. 5. Multilayer polycropping: Create plant biodiversity. 6. Mixed animal husbandry: Create animal biodiversity.
