Everything about the Xiaomi Technology SU7 is impressive. From the Tesla gigacasting style major parts, to the in-house designed motors and battery tech. The marriage of power, acceleration and range with affordable price. Aftermarket user options for adding physical buttons for example are unique. And a grown up clean design look too that earnt much praise from Chris B. But nothing impresses like 10k units rolling off the production line in the first month. That is mind blowing and more than Rivian, Lucid and Fisker managed in their first year of production. It's also more than GMs EV output in the 1st quarter of 2022! It took Tesla almost a year to reach those numbers with the Model S. Even production hell with the Model 3 didn't yield 10k in the first month. And Xiaomi is a 1st time car OEM! As an engineer there is a massive story to tell behind the insane levels of planning that must have gone into achieving this manufacturing prowess! Prior to this the only wheels were on a consumer electric scooter. Their product mix, with electric shavers, a few household appliances, a laptop or two and their much respected mainstay business of top notch design and performance smartphones (I've owned two in the past). Xiaomi is literally the Apple of China and from the outset in 2010, it set itself this moniker out of choice. From the phones, to the stores and product launches. Except they succeeded building an EV where Apple spent years and billions on Project Titan before scrapping it. My only one bone of contention with the SU7 is the fastback look, but a tiny sedan boot reality. I know it's cheaper and easier option to make, but my goodness why reduce ownership user options. Anyway, shouldn't distract from the huge kudos

Bloomberg [excerpt]: #Apple Inc. supplier #Luxshare Precision Industry Co. is more than doubling its investment in #Vietnam’s northern Bac Giang province to a half-billion dollars as the AirPods maker and other gadget manufacturers further diversify #manufacturing away from #China. The company is increasing its Bac Giang investment by $330 million to a total of $504 million through its Vietnam unit Luxshare-ICT, the province’s industrial zones authority said on its website. Vietnam is among the winners as the Cupertino, California-based company’s network of producers increasingly crisscrosses the developing world amid growing tensions between the US and China. Vietnam has seen a fourfold increase in companies assembling Apple products over the past decade. The Bac Giang industrial zones authority granted the revised investment license to Luxshare-ICT on Nov. 6 and the new production facility is expected to be completed in 12 to 24 months, according to the website post. AirPods orders are dominated by Luxshare and fellow Chinese firm GoerTek Inc., which also has operations in north Vietnam. Luxshare’s new Bac Giang facility will make cables for smart devices, equipment digitizing voice signals, communications equipment, touch pens, walkie-talkies, smart positioning tags and smartwatches, the industrial authority said.
